Sandy Pond Channel Maintenance Association The SPCMA is a group of dedicated people working together to keep the sandy pond channel dredged. The channel is essential to local business and tourism.

The shores of the channel are the only freshwater sand dune in the north east U.S. Just a reminder to everyone who spends a lot of time passing through the channel in the summer. Watch out for the large rocks that are on your port when returning from the lake. They are near the smaller set of spar buoys on the lake side. Last year someone tried to mark them with plastic bottles but hopefully they will be marked better this upcoming season

It’s a rainy Saturday here on Sandy Pond but the originally planned Beach Party will still take place at 2 pm; only under cover at the Sandy Pond Sportsmen’s Association pavilion. We will have the pavilion bar open as well as our indoor bar. Two sets of bathrooms. The SPCMA will be selling shirts and hot dogs. We know everyone was planning on a beach day, but let’s make the best of it. Come out and support our Channel. Please note: due to NYS Liquor laws, you cannot bring alcohol to our premises. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

We have been notified there is a submerged tree or log in the north side entrance on the pond side

4th of July is quickly approaching! The channel has some red and green buoys marking the south side entrance and the north side entrance!
The 3 white spar buoys going out into the lake mark a rock pile stay to the left going out. Do not go through the center of the buoys! Be safe and

Dredging on the channel this year - 5,000 cubic yards of sand removed and placed back on the barrier beach location of sand is always put where Tom Hart of environmental recommends for the best rebuild of dunes
The town of Sandy Creek funded this project
SPCMA is still awaiting the approval of 2 grants for a larger dredge project
Due to limited funding we were only able to remove 5,000 cubic yards of sand
With the boating season coming up soon SPCMA is accepting donations which are tax deductible
