Sandwich High School has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 40% of high schools in the nation and ranked among the top high schools in Illinois.
U.S. News and World report evaluated and ranked more than 18,000 public high schools nationwide, using measures of student achievement, college readiness, graduation rates, and other indicators of academic success.
While receiving national recognition is certainly something to celebrate, what makes this accomplishment especially meaningful is what it represents. This recognition reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our students, families, community, and especially our staff. Every day, our staff works to create opportunities for students to learn, grow, and prepare for their futures.
I am incredibly proud to be part of the Sandwich High School community and grateful for everyone who continues to make SHS a special place for our students. This recognition is something we can all be proud of, and I look forward to celebrating many more academic accomplishments together.

Senior Sunrise Breakfast!
Senior Sunrise Breakfast is always one of my favorite traditions at SHS. There is something special about watching our seniors come together to kick off their final year of high school.
Our senior class officers worked hard to make this morning happen from bringing in breakfast items and cooking to organizing everything for their classmates. It’s one of the first times the entire senior class comes together to celebrate the start of the year.
And this year, it means a little more. It’s their last first day of high school together.
Here’s to an incredible senior year filled with memories, friendships, and moments they’ll carry with them long after they leave SHS. Class of 2027, make it a great one!

Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP)

A newer opportunity for students at Sandwich High School, Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP), is beginning to spread throughout our school community. YEP is open to high school students across DeKalb County and provides students with an opportunity to learn how they can make a meaningful difference in their communities.

YEP empowers high school students to serve, lead, and create positive change by giving them an active voice in decisions that impact youth and local communities. Students gain valuable hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, and community service while supporting important local causes.

Members play an active role in determining which organizations and projects receive support, allowing their voices, ideas, and perspectives to have a real impact. By working together to identify community needs and develop solutions, students learn the importance of civic engagement, build lasting connections, and grow into confident leaders who are dedicated to improving the lives of others.
