Dolly Parton believed every child should have the chance to fall in love with reading. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library inspired the Harold Grinspoon Foundation to create PJ Library, bringing Jewish books to children and families around the world.

In 2023, Dolly and Harold spoke about the inspiration behind both programs and their shared love of getting books into children’s hands.

Growing up, Bay Area PJ Library author Pamela Mayer noticed something missing from the children’s books she read: Jewish celebrations. That experience inspired her to create stories where Jewish kids can see their own traditions reflected. 📚💛

Pamela is the author of four Jewish-themed picture books selected by PJ Library, including The Mouse Who Danced the Hora and Chicken Soup, Chicken Soup.
