Killain Aurthus received the FM Undergraduate Research Award for his outstanding dedication to research, presenting internationally and earning a fellowship for his work on textile circularity in Texas.
Renne Salinas received the FM Endowed Scholarship.

Also recognized: Erica Aguilar, for her leadership as FMA president, academic excellence, and passion for sustainable fashion and global opportunities, and Kameron “Kam” Givens, this year’s Fashion Visionary Award recipient, known for his innovative work in branding, creative direction, and visual storytelling.

Fashion Merchandising Students!

Bakari Luxury Sportswear has announced its inaugural Fashion Design Competition, hosted by Bakari Luxury Sportswear (BLS) and The Bakari Foundation. This is an opportunity for designers to create and showcase their unique garments, earn up to $500, and have an opportunity to be included in BLS's summer and/or fall collection.

Designers' fashions may also be featured at The Bakari Foundation’s 8th Annual Legacy Event on April 18, 2026. Selected participants will design and make 3 pieces that must be able to be mass-produced for small runs. Garments should include a jersey or waist-up garment that will align with the World Cup atmosphere and a 2-piece jogger or athleisure set, which may be showcased and voted on during the Legacy Event.

There is a required $30 application fee. Additional details are included in the application form link below:
