Families Learning Together Scratch in San Marcos, TX, is a community coding project started by Dr. Sean Justice of Texas State University, San Marcos. See the events listings below.

Families Learning Together (FLT) explores expressive STEM in Central Texas, blending computers, robotics, and crafts with heritage and community to make stories, art, and science. Join us for storytelling and artmaking with Scratch. Playshops and community events will be held at the San Marcos Public Library for kids, teens, and families. All events are free to the San Marcos community.

☀️ What a fantastic summer! Thank you to all of our amazing STEM Center families for learning, creating, and playing with us. We had an incredible time!

🧹 We'll be closed during August while we clean, organize, and restock our space. We'll be back the first week of September with fresh supplies, exciting new playshops, and plenty of hands-on STEM fun!

🤖✨ Beep, boop... we've been having a fantastic time at our KIBO Robot Playshops! A huge thank you to the San Marcos Public Library for providing such a welcoming space for families to build, code, and explore together.

🤖Job Opportunity🧲

Families Learning Together (FLT) is seeking Texas State University Undergraduate Facilitators (UGFs) for the Fall 2026 semester to support its Expressive STEM programs that engage families through hands-on activities, storytelling, arts, robotics, coding, and community science. The position pays $15 per hour and requires approximately 6 to 8 hours per week. Activities are held at locations in San Marcos, where facilitators are responsible for their own transportation. UGFs will lead playshops and other learning events, support family participation, document activities, attend training sessions, and collaborate with community partners. Applicants should have an interest in family learning, curiosity about hands-on STEM experiences, and a willingness to learn new materials and teaching approaches. What a wonderful Family Fun Day this past Saturday! 🎉

We were excited to open our STEM Center to the many families visiting the Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos and share hands-on STEM experiences with our community.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to explore, learn, and spend time with us. We also want to say thank you to Centro for letting us take part in such a fantastic event. We appreciate the opportunity and look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
