Hi San Marcos FFA!!

My name is Paityn Guerra and I am your 26-27 SMHS FFA Reporter! This is my third year in our program and my first year serving you as an officer. I compete in Veterinary Science and Photography/ Art through Homeskills. I am also a Varsity softball player. I’m excited for a year of competition and showing you all the “magic behind the jacket.” I hope you, too, can find your home in FFA just like my fellow members and I have.

Our San Marcos FFA Advisors recently attended the Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas (ATAT) Professional Development Conference in Corpus Christi, where they spent the week learning, collaborating with fellow agriculture educators, and preparing for a successful 2026–2027 school year.

This year’s conference was especially memorable as two of our advisors were recognized for their years of service to agricultural education. Mr. Sisak was honored for 20 years of dedicated service, and Mrs. Drennan was recognized for 10 years. Their commitment to teaching, mentoring, and making a difference in the lives of students is something worth celebrating, and we are grateful for all they continue to do for our program.

Mrs. Drennan also brought home the Area VII Mid-Career Outstanding Teacher Award and earned 3rd place in the Floral Cup Showcase. These accomplishments are a reflection of her dedication to her students, her craft, and agricultural education.

Congratulations to our advisors on these well-deserved honors! We are excited to kick off the 2026–2027 school year and can’t wait to see what our students accomplish.

What a way to wrap up an incredible week at the 98th Annual Texas FFA State Convention! 💙💛

Our chapter officers made the most of their final day in Fort Worth by capturing memories with headshots and group photos, exploring the Expo Hall one more time, enjoying some Blue Bell Creamery ice cream, and celebrating together during the 4th General Session. 🍦✨

A special highlight of the day was watching three of our officers represent our chapter on stage as they accepted the team trophy and medals for our State Champion Floriculture CDE Team! 🌸🏆 Peep the new hardware we get to take home!

This week has been filled with leadership, learning, teamwork, and memories that will last a lifetime. We are so proud of our officers and all they will continue to do to represent our chapter!

Recap of Day 2 at the 98th Annual Texas FFA State Convention was a full day of leadership, learning, and making memories! 💙💛

Our chapter officers started the day bright and early as our voting delegates represented our chapter during the Business Session. Alongside thousands of FFA members from across the state, they participated in by voting on the proposed Texas FFA budget for the upcoming year, selecting Texas FFA’s National Officer Candidate, and voting on a constitutional amendment.

During the 1st General Session, our members experienced the excitement of convention as they listened to inspiring retiring addresses from state officers and heard an incredible keynote message from Courtney DeHoff. Her message focused on the Cowboy Code, never giving up on your dreams, choosing to be extraordinary, and living your life with purpose and impact. Her words were a great reminder of the importance of character, perseverance, and making a difference in the lives of others. 🤠

After lunch, our voting delegates continued their important role in the 2nd General Session by casting their votes in the 26-27 Texas FFA State Officer Elections after hearing speeches and thought-provoking answers from the 12 incoming state officer candidates.

Between sessions, our members explored the expo hall, connected with universities, learned about new opportunities, and enjoyed a little shopping! 🛍️ Additionally, our officers donated to the State Convention Community Service Drive, the Cowtown C.A.L.F., which helps identify low income students who need a new pair of tennis shoes and socks to promote a lifetime love for fitness.

The evening was all about strengthening our officer team and creating memories together. We wrapped up the day with a fun hibachi dinner, Crumbl Cookie treats, and a little retail therapy. From leadership opportunities to laughter and team bonding, this trip continues to be an incredible experience for our officers.

We are proud of the way our officers are representing our chapter and growing as leaders!

This week is about so much more than attending sessions — it’s about building stronger relationships as a team, creating memories together, exploring the Expo Hall, connecting with other FFA members from across Texas, and gaining new ideas and experiences that will help them lead our chapter in the year ahead.

We are excited to watch these leaders learn, grow, and represent San Marcos FFA with pride. Here’s to a week full of inspiration, blue jackets, new friendships, and opportunities to become the leaders our chapter needs!
