We lost one of our own.
We are heartbroken to share the news of the sudden and tragic death of our friend, an Oak Grove Eagle and San Jose resident, Art “Pee Wee” Romero. Art was killed while driving home from his evening shift as a correctional officer on July 15th, 2023. He was hit by a drunk driver.
Art was kind, compassionate, brutally honest and funny as heck! Art always put others before himself, especially when it came to his family. He was a devoted husband and father, a loyal friend, and a dedicated public servant. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and longtime friends.
Art was a correctional officer for over 24 years. He was a highly respected member of the law enforcement community and was known for his dedication to his job and his commitment to helping others. Art leaves behind his wife Jean, his son Joshua and daughters Juliana, Sophia, Mile and his sister, Diana.
Art's death is a tragedy. Please, DO NOT DRINK and DRIVE!
A fund has been put together by the Peace Officers Relief & Education Foundation to help Art’s family during this horrible time.
