If you're a language learner or an actor, accents can either be a bad thing or a good thing.

I love accents. Sometimes they can be very sexy (Antonio Banderas, Catherine Deneuve, Sofia Vergara, Arnold Schwarzenegger...). Sometimes they can get in the way of day-to-day conversation or even landing acting roles.

If you're learning a language, the first challenge is not only learning the new words and how to pronounce them, but how to HEAR them. That's why correct pronunciation is key to learning. Otherwise, you're only learning "your version" of the language.

My lesson goes a step further because, oddly enough, English as spoken in North America does one very particular thing in terms of basic pronunciation, and every other language on the planet does the opposite, including English spoken in the UK and former colonies. The CSPL doesn't teach Spanish, it uses Spanish to help you learn any language.

The lesson is free on the website. In fact, here it is: English emphasizes CONSONANTS over vowels, Spanish (and all other languages) emphasizes VOWELS over consonants. It's all explained at the site, but if you'd like online one-on-one coaching, I offer 1 hour and 1 and half hour sessions.

Actors working on dialects can also benefit from this concept. Different languages have different rhythms and cadences, but the core, the DNA of the pronunciation is the stress placed on vowels instead of consonants.
