This two-day workshop on August 8-9 should not be missed! Michelle Solorzano Michelle Solorzano is a prolific figure sculptor who has burst on the scene with her large scale figurative and animal sculptures that she builds quickly with unique slab and coil techniques. Her work is surprisingly lightweight and almost vessel like. Michelle’s work focuses on themes of identity, immigration and culture. “Her practice is rooted in the complexities of bicultural identity and the layered legacies of colonization. A major source of inspiration is her Dominican heritage, shaped by Taíno, African, and Spanish influences.“
Forrest met Michelle at Idyllwild Arts when they were each teaching and was immediately reminded of how we as a clay community are here to communicate greater ideas through our community involvement, kindness and laughter; within hours of meeting they were already scheming of ways for Michelle to visit our little community and interact and share with our students and members! We are so proud and honored to hist Michelle, and we hope you can make it to learn from this amazing artist and human being ♥️! Full description and sig up linked on our website.
