Today was such a gorgeous day at . I got to teach students about my favorite plant guide, pericón. And true to her plant story she showed us the magic we possess. We did limpias, made potions and did tie dye. I love working with youth and teaching them the stories of plants and how to care for the earth. I still have some spots in my summer camp if your child would like to learn more about the magic of the earth, herbalism and plant medicine this July. Link in bio or send me a DM for more info.

I used to have this reoccurring dream as a kid. I was peeking in the window of the same house every time. It was always in the desert, sometimes the weather would be different but it was always the same house. As soon as I looked inside there was an old woman looking back at me. Sternly and like she had a message for me. But she never looked at me directly, it was always through the reflection off of a mirror or a window pane. She always looked so serious I would get scared because I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to be there and would wake up scared thinking “it was a witch and she saw me” never asking her what her message was.

Now that I’ve learned to work with my dreams and the obsidian mirror I realize that the witch staring through the reflection was me all along. A conversation with my future and past self all at once. Our dreams are the liminal space where our nahual can travel freely between realms and timelines. Turns out future me knew I’d figure out this skill all along and would come visit child me often. I wish I’d been less afraid of her and asked her questions when we met. But who’s to say that possibility doesn’t still exist and I just haven’t found my way back to it yet.

So appreciative to have the plants hold me in the way that they do. To ease my aches and pains, to brighten my spirit, to nourish my skin. Also huge shout out to the Danza community and Grupo Xitlalli for letting me vend again this year. My body is tired but also happy, good night everyone ❤️ 🌿🌼

Spring is finally here! Looking for something fun to do this weekend in SF?

Come learn how to identify and use medicinal plants that grow right here in the neighborhood with me. I’m a community herbalist and plant Bruja and I started my business La ChupaRosa Espinoza to teach people how to remember the language of plants.

We’ll walk, meet other cool plant people, talk about native and medicinal plants that grow right here in San Francisco and build community together. Tickets are $25. You can find them linked in my bio and are also available directly on Eventbrite. Can’t wait to see you!!

A little peek into my lunar eclipse bedtime ritual. My tea blend included mugwort for lucid dreaming, chamomile to calm frayed nerves, rose petals for heart healing, calendula to digest both energetically and physically. Spray was my Sweet Dreams Hydrosol (available in my shop). Night night and sweet dreams y’all

There’s about to be a lunar eclipse tonight in Virgo. As a Virgo moon 🌖 I love that she’s so organized and making her appearance at 3:33 on 3/3! The energy out there has been wild and this eclipse is opening a big dream portal tonight so pay attention to your dreams. Good luck and a little advice from your friendly neighborhood Bruja, tonight is not a night for spell work. Drink your teas, take a bath, pay attention to your dreams, release expectations and flow with the energy of Virgo and Pisces coming together for some big reveals. #🌑

Honor what your plants give you! Even when I’m just doing garden maintenance I always try to honor what the plant sheds rather than compost it.

Today I was doing some early spring pruning and ended up with a handful of fig, lemon verbena, and catnip leaves. I decided to dehydrate the fig and lemon verbena to use in medicinal teas and the catnip with by air dried and shared with my kitty familiar.

What do you do with your micro harvests? I’d love to hear in the comment section.

Used in traditional African herbal medicine to do things like reduce fevers, inflammation and help with pain it’s a great example of a how your landscape plants can also be medicinal. If you’re in SF near the ocean keep an eye out I always see tons of it along the walkways and in people’s yards.

Like and follow for more plant medicine videos and keep an eye out for upcoming plant walks in SF this spring. I want to connect with community and talk to people about plants more, and I hope you do too!

This week I’ve been working with the energy of citrus. Citrus is a winter crop so there’s an abundance of it in California right now. Oranges and lemons are both great for immunity, they have a ton of vitamin c in them and high vitamin c foods help boost collagen production also making them great for your skin.

Energetically citrus is great for cord cutting. Lemons help seal the tongue of those speaking poorly about you and oranges welcome sweetness into your life. I use both in my Agua Florida and like to have them on hand dried since it’s hard to find access to good quality citrus year round.

This video gives you a little behind the scene view of what goes into preserving each ingredient I work with. It is not “fast” medicine but the processing is a huge part of the final product. We have this obsession with immediacy nowadays and preserving plants in this way is the antidote to that instant gratification culture for me. It’s meant to be slow and connected so the plants can really connect and attune themselves to me and the final products I’ll use them in.

Hope you enjoy seeing the process, make sure to drop a like or comment to let me know if you’d like to see more plant processing videos from me in the future. Until then I hope you find yourself a fresh orange or lemon to enjoy while they’re still in season!
