Most people have never heard of Ibn Sina (Avicenna) — but the world they live in was shaped by his work.
Ibn Sina was a Persian physician, scientist, and philosopher who lived over a thousand years ago, in what is now Iran.
He is considered one of the most influential medical minds in history. His writings didn’t just treat illness — they changed how medicine itself was practiced.
At a time when healing was scattered between folklore and guesswork, Ibn Sina created systems. He believed medicine should be studied, tested, refined, and taught with intention. His work became the foundation of medical education across the Middle East and Europe for more than 600 years.
One of his most important contributions was how he understood alcohol.
He didn’t view it as indulgence. He viewed it as a tool — a way to extract botanical properties, preserve compounds, and deliver medicine with precision and balance.
I grew up hearing his name through my grandmother, who spoke of him with deep pride. She told me he was our ancestor, passed down through her side of the family.
As a child, I didn’t understand why that mattered.
Years later, while building Cocktail Camp and studying alcohol through history, not culture, I finally did.
The way I approach cocktails — with restraint, intention, and respect for process — mirrors a philosophy that existed long before bars, menus, or nightlife.
Cocktails, at their best, are not about excess.
They’re about balance. Extraction. Experience.
That understanding is the foundation of Cocktail Camp — and the legacy I didn’t know I was carrying until I was ready to understand it.

As this year comes to a close, we just want to say thank you.
To the bartenders who showed up with care.
To the students who chose growth.
To the clients who trusted us with their teams.
To everyone who helped build this with intention.
This year asked a lot from all of us. Patience. Flexibility. Resilience.
It also reminded us of something important.
Hospitality still matters.
People still matter.
How we treat each other still matters.
At The Cocktail Camp, we believe excellence does not require burnout.
That confidence does not need ego.
And that bar culture can be skilled, sustainable, and humane.
We are heading into the new year committed to better systems, better training, fair pay, and community over competition.
Thank you for being part of this.
Here is to what we are building together.
