Bay Area Medical Academy Bay Area Medical Academy transforms people's lives by providing job-oriented, healthcare training in :: 3-in-1 Medical Assistant Training!

Our 9-month Medical Assistant Program is intended to provide the entry-level student with a solid foundation in the clinical and administrative duties needed for a successful entry into the medical field. Our Program prepares you for all 3 certifications:

National Certified Medical Assistant
National Certified Phlebotomy Technician, plus CA State (CPT1) License
National Certified EKG Technician

In fact, we are the only MA Program in the Bay Area which includes Phlebotomy Certification, which is required by most employers! Students from other MA Programs come to our school to complete the Phlebotomy Certification, and end up paying more.

:: Phlebotomy Technician Training! The Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1) Training Program consists of two segments: a classroom segment and a clinical externship. The classroom segment consists of 60 hours of both lectures and practical instruction delivered in a classroom setting, designed to provide a theoretical foundation and hands-on training in venipuncture and skin puncture procedures. Lectures include basic anatomy and physiology with emphasis on the circulatory system, introduction to specimen collection, risk factors and complications, quality assurance in specimen collection as well as professional behavior and responsibilities in patient care settings. Upon successful completion of the classroom segment, and after passing the national certification exam, the student is assigned to a Clinical Externship at a local hospital or clinic consisting of at least 40 hours. This course is required for licensure in the State of California as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1).

This summer, BAMA welcomed interns from Enterprise for Youth to both its San Francisco and San Jose campuses. Among the interns was Anindya, who, while providing valuable record updating and data entry assistance, gained insight into how BAMA patrners with students to prepare them for successful medical assisting, phebotomy, and EKG employment.

“During my internship at BAMA, I learned about how career colleges create pathways into healthcare careers, how student support goes beyond the classroom, and how education can increase access to stable, higher-paying jobs,” Anindya shared, reflecting on their time on campus.

Anindya also gained a deeper appreciation for how education can play an important role in expanding access to healthcare jobs in the Bay Area. “Something that I admire about BAMA is how it creates opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to enter careers in healthcare, and how the school supports its students every step of the way,” they said.

Through their internship experience, Anindya witnessed the dedication behind healthcare workforce development and the impact of schools, like BAMA, that work to connect education with new opportunity for students. Their perspective reinforces the importance of building accessible healthcare career pathways for a continuing diverse and skilled healthcare workforce.

BAMA is grateful for local resources like Enterprise for Youth that provide young people with a chance to gain professional experience and explore future career choices. We’d also like to thank our interns, who everyday brought their curiosity, energy, and fresh perspectives to BAMA. Come back and visit anytime!

One generation inspires the next. ❤️

At Bay Area Medical Academy, we believe healthcare education has the power to create lasting impact, not only for our students but for their families and communities.

For Cece, her journey into healthcare became an inspiration for her daughter, Pria, to pursue her own path in the healthcare field. Now, as Pria continues her healthcare education journey, she is carrying forward a family legacy built on compassion, dedication, and a commitment to caring for others.

Stories like theirs remind us that the impact of healthcare careers reaches far beyond one person. It creates opportunities, inspires future generations, and strengthens the communities we serve.

Here’s to Cece and Pria, and to all the students building meaningful futures in healthcare. 🩺
