This June, Wu Yee Children’s Services is celebrating milestones across our community. More than 600 children are preparing for their next chapter, families are reaching important milestones, and IRISE Apprenticeship graduates are stepping into teaching roles that will shape the future of early learning in San Francisco.

These moments are only possible because of a community that believes every child and family deserves the opportunity to thrive.

When you support Wu Yee Children's Services, you help children start school strong, support families through critical transitions, and invest in the next generation of educators.

This week, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the newly reopened Tenderloin Children’s Play Area! This vibrant, nature-based space was developed in collaboration with Wu Yee Children’s Services for the thousands of children and families who call the Tenderloin home.

Serving more than 3,500 children in the neighborhood, the reimagined playground features natural play structures, expanded greenery, accessible design improvements, and spaces for exploration, learning, and connection.

Thank you to our incredible collaborators and partners, including the San Francisco Department of Early Childhood, SF Recreation & Parks, SF Children & Nature, Crankstart, CAL FIRE, the Mimi and Peter Haas Fund, KABOOM!, LIIF, and the many community partners who helped bring this vision to life.

Together, we are creating joyful, safe, and enriching spaces where children can thrive!

For nearly 50 years, Wu Yee Children’s Services has supported children and families across San Francisco’s diverse communities. Founded in Chinatown by parents, teachers, and social workers advocating for children’s rights, Wu Yee continues to provide culturally responsive early education and family support rooted in community care.

This AANHPI Heritage Month, we honor the generations of Asian American and Pacific Islander families, educators, and advocates whose leadership and resilience helped shape our mission and continue to inspire our work today.

Last week, Wu Yee Children’s Services’ Lok Yuen Early Learning Center took a field trip to the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito!

At the museum, our preschoolers explored hands-on exhibits designed just for young children, sparking curiosity through art, music, nature, and imaginative play. From building and creating to being brave and trying new things, it was a day full of joyful, play-based learning and growth.

A heartfelt thank you to the Bay Area Discovery Museum for providing free memberships to our students’ families, helping extend learning and exploration beyond the classroom!
