Children's Day School - San Francisco

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Grandparents & Special Friends Day last week! Our guests got a taste of what makes CDS special, including a musical assembly, a chance to learn alongside students in our classrooms, and a reception with beautiful student art hanging on the walls. We loved watching our students share their school with the people they love! ❤

We had so much fun at this year's Country Fair! 🤠 Our community came together for...pie-eating contests, carnival games, a delightful dunk tank featuring staff and our Head of School, a delicious taquiza provided by Taco Los Altos, a market stocked with beautiful handmade goods, a snack station with sweet shaved ice and cotton candy, a yummy bake sale, face-painting, musical performances by our students, parents, and alum...and so much more!

Thank you to the many, many volunteers who came together to make this year's Country Fair so amazing, and to our planning committee!

Congratulations to the CDS Class of 2022! It was great to see you back on campus recently, reuniting before you graduate high school. We're so proud of all that you accomplished and excited for what's next! Stay in touch! ❤

To kick off their final science unit of the year on adaptation, evolution, and migration, sixth graders took a trip to Año Nuevo State Park to see the elephant seals on this leg of their 17,000-mile annual migration. They enjoyed a fun, educational trip in excellent weather! The seals were barking, the sun was shining, and the docents regaled students and chaperones with stories and facts about these incredible creatures and their home.

Congratulations to our JV Boys Futsal team on an incredible season! They made it to the semifinals of the playoffs this week, playing a great game vs . We’re so proud of the commitment, heart, and growth this team showed all season long! ⚽️

Our 8th graders are in Washington DC! 🏛️ They’ve visited the Lincoln Memorial, Holocaust Memorial Museum, and Mount Vernon. They also spoke with co-founder Anna Palmer, dined at the iconic Ben’s Chili Bowl while exploring U Street, and rode the . All of that in just two days — so much more to come!

Congratulations to our incredible 7th graders on a soup-er Soup for Change!

This cherished CDS tradition is the culmination of a year-long, interdisciplinary impact project. From researching local issues and connecting with related non-profits in Humanities to redesigning ultra-processed soups into healthy versions in Food & Ag Science and working on their presentation skills in Drama, our students have put in the work to nourish the community!

This year’s projects tackled vital issues, from food insecurity and homelessness to restoring wetlands and so much more! Thank you to all of the organizations that partnered with our students. Now, the CDS community has been invited to pitch in to bring these visions to life.

"I made this when you were sitting next to me!" a first grader excitedly exclaimed as he showed his work to Donna, one of the Creativity Explored visiting artists who joined us at CDS this week for a special art show. 🎨 ❤

As part of their exploration of the neighborhood around our school, first graders learned about Creativity Explored, an organization that supports neurodiverse artists and promotes inclusion through creative expression. Students visited the CE studio and welcomed artists Donna and Lance into their classroom to make art together. Inspired, first graders put together a beautiful art show. Donna and Lance even allowed the first grade to display their original artwork alongside student creations!

Through this collaboration, students are learning that strong communities are built when people share their talents, learn from one another, and work together. Thank you to Creativity Explored and our first grade teaching team!
