Missing short spine? Try this variation on the roller.
This is an excerpt from a full roller workout I'm creating. Warm up before doing this exercise!
Tip: To get into the starting position, lie down on your back with your knees bent and put the roller between your feet and your sitting bones. Bridge up, and pull the roller under the back of your hips.

Hello from my home to yours! I hope this post finds you and your families healthy! In this uncertain time, Pilates is (no surprise) helping me Center myself mentally and physically.
Today's workout was a Mat with no props, and as I was doing this fun "transition," I remembered I had it in my video archives too!
Whatever your choice of transition, enjoy your workout!
Feeling stressed and cooped up? Me too. Highly recommend taking a deep breath and grabbing a couple of cans from your emergency supply for an indoor workout!
It can be worthwhile without being perfect.

So grateful to have been able to take a week out to backpack in Sequoia National Park,
and arrive at camp early enough to play with a little "Reformer on the rocks" (moment from dippity-do exercise in picture).

I have been silent on this page for a while because my work focus has shifted from teaching to Environmental Advocacy-- I am doing Climate/Environmental work with the Climate Reality Project, Citizens Climate Lobby, and the Sunrise movement-- check them out!
But that doesn't mean I have stopped using Pilates for well-being... both physical and mental. I appreciate it Even More now that I am not in the studio all the time, and highly recommend that even if you have your own home practice you treat yourself to a session with an instructor to freshen your practice and clean up bad habits!
Video for your enjoyment-- a little "Spring" on the ball that was part of my workout this morning... good for leg alignment, and of course the jumping variant increases the challenge to balance and ankle strength!

3)Mr. Pilates also said, back in 1945, that pollution was detrimental to human fitness (paraphrased from page 96 of Return to Life through Contrology)

GMB's technique is like the improvised version of Pilates. Instead of "find this shape and then do these movements on all the different equipment with different angles of force" it's "find (the same) shape and then play around with different angles of force."
If you like formal, come to Pilates. If you like Improv, do GMB. If you like both, do both!
