The 9th Annual Festival of the Moving Image highlights emerging talent from City College of San Francisco’s Cinema, Visual Media Design and Broadcast Electronic Media Arts Departments in a combined festival program

The Festival of the Moving Image is hosted by a diverse group of student volunteers from City College of San Francisco. The show highlights the best media work created by CCSF's Cinema and Broadcast Electronic Media and Arts (BEMA) departments. It's a showcase of assorted and sophisticated work that is sure to captivate, amuse, and inspire. The 8:45 showing will be followed by an after party at the Pork Store Cafe in the Mission (across the street from the Roxie Theater), with a live DJ and a raffle--which includes prizes from local businesses.

Just two more days until the theatrical premiere of several incredible shorts, including work from the Visual Media Design Department's 2D Animation program!

Broadcast Electronic Media Arts at CCSF

BEMA is intensely proud of the amazing accomplishments of longtime filmmaker and BEMA student Jeanne Hallacy (Fall 2019), who produced 5 feature documentaries on human rights in recent years. Among other venues, her films screened to critical acclaim at the United Nations, Yale U, Berkeley, LucasArts, etc. Tomorrow is a chance to see her last work for free at the SF public library. Take the opportunity.

Acclaimed director Jeanne Marie Hallacy, Mother, Daughter, Sister is a new, award-winning documentary about one of today's gravest human rights crises. The film presents the stories of ethnic women affected by rape as a weapon of war in Myanmar (Burma).

Yesterday, we closed the BEMA FMI entry process and are happy to report that this year's FMI festival engaged more students and content than ever: 65 submissions totaling 156 minutes of content. Results of BEMA judging for our on Wednesday, 11/13.
