You don’t have to grade everything.
I know, I know—your brain just screamed:
“But then how will they learn?!”
“But I need to hold them accountable!”
“But what if they think I don’t care?!”
“My admin makes me!?” (I’m so sorry, this stinks 🥺)
Here’s the truth:
Students don’t learn from grades.
They learn from FEEDBACK.
And feedback doesn’t have to be on every single assignment.
This is what I started doing instead:
✅ Graded for COMPLETION on practice work (check, check plus, check minus—done in 30 seconds)
✅ Gave FEEDBACK on 1-2 major assignments per unit (the ones that actually matter) AND verbally during class discussions (that second one is GAME-CHANGER)
✅ Focused my energy on the work that moves them forward (key skills like claim, premise, evidence, and justification), not busy work that just filled my grading pile
What happens when you do this?
- You get your time back
- Your feedback gets BETTER (because you’re not rushing through 100 assignments)
- Students actually RECEIVE your feedback (because they’re not drowning in red ink on every paper)
You don’t have to choose between being an excellent teacher and having a life.
You just need systems that support both.
Save this if you’re ready to stop grading everything and start grading what matters.
Comment “GRADING” and I’ll send you the link to my YouTube video where I walk you through EXACTLY how I graded essays (and how I teach our EB Teachers to do the same)! You’ll learn how to leave effective feedback in half the time. 🥰

❌ DON’T SIT DOWN TO BATCH PLAN WITHOUT THESE PLANNING TIPS ❌
1. DEDICATED and uninterrupted time. Tell your family, get someone to watch your kids, lock your door, remove all distractions, and get to freaking work. The discipline this takes is hard and also SO freaking worth it.
2. Use the standards to guide you! If you’re utilizing a resource or strategy or lesson in your classroom, be sure it’s worth it. The standards are your North Star ⭐️
3. You absolutely HAVE to have a framework to follow. You can’t just plan blindly without a method. That’s why we’ve developed our EB Batch Planning Framework over the last decade (and even wrote a book about it)—it is so essential to successfully planning your lessons.
Ready to get started with batch planning? YES, even now at the end of the year—in fact, one of our EB Teachers is already planned for all of her 2024-2025 SY 🔥💪
Comment CHECKLIST and we’ll send you our free guide to get you started! 💫

I’ll be honest, at the end of my teacher career, I considered myself an expert planner 💪🎯
Our EB Batch Planning Framework was the backbone of my strength as a teacher. It was why my students had some of the highest scores in my district and saw incredible growth every year.
It’s also why so many of our EB Teachers have the same results.
And if you want to become an expert batch planner, too, I’ll be straight with you—it’s not easy.
It’s a skill that takes time, practice, and patience.
But, if you’re ready to put in the work so you can experience teaching through a totally different lens, then comment CHECKLIST to get our free batch planning guide sent straight to your inbox 🥰
Over 12,000 teachers have already grabbed this game-changing guide 💫🔥
It's true - freebies are nice - but they aren't the answer.

These lessons are some of our favorites for implementing time and time again!
(Rinse and repeat lessons for the WIN!)
Most of us believe the lie that re-using a resource reduces our student's engagement.
But we're here to tell you that's simply not the case.
When you use resources that your students are already confident with, THAT is exactly when you're going to see your student growth fly off the charts!
(And the best part is it takes much less of your time!)
