Back in April 2023, we filled Saint Joseph’s Arts Society for a sold-out night that moved seamlessly between DJ sets, live classical performance, and immersive sound and light.

From Renaissance chorales by Gesualdo and Lotti to Arvo Pärt, Aphex Twin, John Cage, and Philip Glass, music unfolded all around the audience, from the main floor to the catwalk above. Strings and piano drifted upward, brass sounded from behind, and the entire space became part of the performance.

We’re returning to that same extraordinary space on Friday, June 5 at 8pm — and tickets WILL sell out!

DJ Masonic (Mason Bates) and DJ Justin Reed will be joined by live classical musicians, with large-scale wall-mapped visuals by Mark Johns transforming the cathedral-turned-club designed by Ken Fulk. The night moves between the dancefloor and the concert hall, with sound and visuals surrounding you from every angle.

to last month’s Mercury Soul night at the Vita Brevis Club in San Francisco.

It was a great evening bringing together electronic music, live performance, and visual art in a space built for artists and entrepreneurs. Nights like this remind us how vibrant the SF arts community is and how much energy there is for creative collaboration across disciplines.

Looking forward to more Mercury Soul moments like this.

🎉 Huge congratulations to Mason Bates on an extraordinary run of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay at the Metropolitan Opera. Pictured here with Mercury Soul board member Aubrey Bergauer (), Mason saw the opera lead ticket sales at the Met this season and return for an unprecedented same-season revival.

As Mercury Soul’s Founding Artistic Director, Mason’s work has always been rooted in expanding what classical music can be and who it is for. Reimagining the concert experience, pushing creative boundaries, and finding meaningful ways to connect new audiences to orchestral music are central to both his artistic vision and Mercury Soul’s mission. Seeing that vision resonate on one of the world’s most iconic stages is deeply inspiring for our community.
