CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Chinese Language Teachers Association of California (CLTAC) is delighted to announce the upcoming 2025 Spring Conference scheduled for March 8th, 2025. The Organizing Committee is now accepting proposals for 20-minute individual presentations or 60-minute panel discussions.
CONFERENCE THEME: Technology and Tradition:
Blending Approaches in Chinese Language Teaching
In a rapidly evolving educational landscape, the integration of cutting-edge technology with time-honored pedagogical methods presents exciting opportunities and challenges for language educators. This conference will explore innovative strategies for blending traditional language teaching practices, such as immersive cultural experiences and communicative approaches, with the latest digital tools, AI-powered platforms, and interactive resources.
Join expert speakers, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and collaborate with fellow educators to examine how technology can enhance, rather than replace, the rich traditions of Chinese language instruction. Together, we will explore strategies for creating dynamic, engaging, and effective learning environments that marry the best of both worlds—innovation and tradition.
We invite proposals that explore a wide range of topics in Chinese language teaching and learning. Possible areas of focus include, but are not limited to:
Chinese linguistics and pedagogical grammar
Second language acquisition
Standards-based instruction
Proficiency- and/or performance-based assessments
Thematic unit lesson planning

Proposal submission deadline: Friday, January 24, 2025
Notification of proposal status: Saturday, February 8, 2025
Registration deadline: Wednesday, March 5, 2025

PROPOSAL SUBMISSION
1) Send a one-page proposal of no more than 350 words in English, or 500 characters in Chinese as an email attachment in MS-Word format to CLTAC Conferences at [email protected] .
2) In the subject line of the email, type "CLTAC 2025 Spring Conference Proposal". In the body of the email, provide the following information: Paper Title Name of the Presenter School/Organization Graduate Student or not Detailed Contact Info (email address, regular mail address, and cell phone number)
3) Do NOT include your name or institutional affiliation in the proposal since all proposals will be anonymously reviewed.
4) You may only submit one (1) proposal as a lead presenter and be listed as a co-presenter on one (1) other proposal on a different topic. You may be listed as a co-presenter on two proposals if you are not listed as a lead presenter on any other proposal. Submissions that include the same group of presenters and have similar titles and content will be removed from consideration.
5) All proposals will be reviewed, but presenters must be current members of CLTAC. Please visit https://www.clta-ca.org/join-cltac.html for more information about membership.
6) We will be soliciting PDF handouts or presentations from presenters after the conference and post them on the conference website with permission.
CLTAC BEST PRESENTATION AWARD
This year, the conference will present two Best Presentation Awards—one for K-12 Chinese language instructors and one for graduate students. All presentations by K-12 instructors and graduate students will be automatically considered. The awards will be granted based on both the quality of content and the style of delivery. Each Best Presentation Award includes a certificate and a $100 prize.
