I’m running for the Board of Trustees

WHY I’M RUNNING: I love City College of San Francisco; it is faced with daunting challenges and perhaps some opportunities. The biggest challenge: three years of unbalanced budgets leading into a year when government at all levels will need to slash budgets in response to the Covid virus. The greatest opportunity is the selection a new permanent chancellor with the kind of experienced leadership to chart a new course for CCSF through troubled waters.

WHAT I BRING: I was a City College teacher, dean, and vice chancellor and held significant leadership positions at the College, including president of my union, AFT 2121, and the Academic Senate. The knowledge, experience, and wisdom acquired over many years will guide my work on the Board. I am blessed with City College memory; this asset allows me to ask pertinent questions as items arise because of my familiarity with policies, processes, practices, and procedures. I work tirelessly, seek data and research to guide decision making, and endeavor to invite participation and build consensus. My lifetime devoted to the service of students in teaching and to leadership at CCSF, in the City of San Francisco (Human Services Commission and board service on community organizations), and at the state level has prepared me for the work of the Board.
