“My wife suffered a stroke and needed major heart surgery. She is a Special Education teacher of 20 years and would like to return to her students. All donations will assist in this process. Incredibly grateful for all of you.”

Aime’s reflection part II.
Thank you for engaging with her story. Again, please comment your thoughts and reactions below.
Let’s use this momentum to get a conversation started. Culture change takes time. But how long does it have to take before students of different backgrounds finally feel welcome and accepted at ?

Attention all St. Markers of color!!
In order to create a safe space where alumni of color can expand upon the sharing that began on the Black@SM page, alumni identifying as BIPoC and/or Latinx are invited to this listening session on January 27. It will be an open agenda for folks who wish to continue the conversation that we started over the summer.
St. Mark’s has engaged Monique Miles, vice president of the Opportunity Youth Incentive Fund, and the managing director of the Aspen Forum for Community Solutions at the Aspen Institute, to facilitate this series of open and closed discussions and to synthesize the key learnings and takeaways.
Monique is the vice president of the Opportunity Youth Incentive Fund, and the managing director of the Aspen Forum for Community Solutions at the Aspen Institute. Prior to joining the Aspen Institute Monique was the director of the Postsecondary Achievement at the National Youth Employment Coalition.
Interested folks can register using the link in our bio. We look forward to having you there.

Dear SM, where you at?
This is a beautifully produced article, but is it a commemoration of a mere moment or a movement for real social change at St. Mark's?
Beyond mere words, lasting progress toward antiracism will require real actions - new ways of thinking, policies, and programs - to create a school community where racism and discrimination are no longer at home.
Commitments have been made. The St. Mark's alumni community, among others, anxiously awaits visibility to the school's steps toward this end.
