Orange Juicing🍊
As the mandarin season is here, we got a few fresh mandarins from the local farmers' market. Today, we introduced the orange juicing lesson for our children, and it was a hit!

This 23-month-old carefully poured the squeezed juice into a cup and tried his first juice for the first time. The moment he tasted his hard work, he smiled big and looked so proud of his work.

We love celebrating those special moments of our children’s achievements and the satisfaction of completing the work. Instead of saying “Good job!”, we take a moment to look at details of their work and tell them how much effort they put into their work. Children always look for connections, especially when they complete a work independently!

Power of Clean Up👋🏽

We caught that this 13-month-old has exhibited a strong interest in cleaning up latterly. He works on materials and puts away his work on the shelf after he's done.

In a Montessori environment, we have a specific sequence of lessons for each material. From the beginning to the end, the guides precisely present the lessons so that the children thoroughly learn the purpose of the work and the point of interests.

Finishing up their work and cleaning up the materials back on the shelves is a critical part of Montessri lessons. It's not just to complete their work but also to prepare the material for the next person.

13 months old mopping the floor🧹

Today we captured this 13-month-old child were mopping the floor while the assistant guide was closing the classroom.

Children are naturally driven to learn how to maintain their environments because they constantly observe the adults and absorb everything they see.

Of course, they can't mop as we do, but our job is to keep the opportunity available for the child. When the time comes, children will take the opportunity. Then we show, model, and wait.

Today we captured this the moment when this toddler combing his friend’s hair.

In our environment, children naturally learn how to take care of themselves. After mastering self-care, children often gravitate toward taking care of others😘 (and they also comb my hair too!)

Dressing and Undressing👟👖🏡

Supporting children’s independence in dressing and un******ng is a big part of our program. The lesson begins from the moment the child is born. The guardians touch the body and talk to the baby about the process of diapering and dressing/un******ng.

Once the child becomes a walker, we need to modify the environment that can fully support their needs. At the entrance, there will be a small chair, hooks for jackets and hats, and a mirror for self-care.

The shoes must be easy to take them off and put on. (Double velcro shoes are the best!) And the jacket has a zipper with a little ribbon on the tag.

After you implement those, all you have to do is modeling. Slowly show your child how to do it. B the time your child develops those skills, you just sit back and watch. You will see the power of independence, and you've empowered your child to become independent!

Singing and meditating every day with children🙏🏽🌈 Eat, Work, Sing❤️

Only repetition makes us build a skill. In a Montessori environment, the children freely choose their work, followed by their inner teacher. We, as a guide, observe and carefully prepare the environment to meet their needs. Children can repeat, make mistakes, and try as much as they want.

We start our circle time with a breathing exercise and singing Om. The children could not focus on begging, but now they can sit and say Om with me after practicing many times. I believe that they are so much capable if we allow them to try.

Cucumber cutting has been a big hit in our toddler community🥒

The setup is the same as the apple slicing. It simply promotes:

⚫︎eye-hand coordination
⚫︎large motor skills
⚫︎maximun effort
⚫︎sense of care for self
⚫︎how to compost♻️

Make sure you always present using the chopper with two hands🙌🏾 as toddlers absorb the exact way we model. If you do so, toddlers won't touch the edge of the chopper😉

Pouring water into a cup🫗is one of the most significant milestones in our program. A child carefully and gracefully bring a cup and a pitcher to the table and pours water into a cup. It sounds straightforward, but this one sequence of movements requires so many layers of skills.

We can help at home model how to pour water in front of children. The moments must be graceful and deliberate.

Washing a window🪟 promotes the skill on how to take care of the environment and functional independence.

This lesson looks very simple but takes many small steps especially the spraying part. We need to make sure that all the materials are children’s size to be able to support their successful experience fully.
