Help shape the future of robotics at SDSU!

The JSBCAI is opening a robot training center this fall and recruiting freshman through junior undergraduate students and graduate students to support the ongoing development of Asher, a social humanoid robot, and other platforms.

Undergraduate students should email Uyiosa Amadasun at [email protected] with their current year and semester, along with the roles they’re interested in. Graduate students interested in pursuing a thesis should email their research ideas.

Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply if they have relevant skills and interests.

New research led by Kenisha Shipley from San Diego State University’s College of Engineering finds larger storms can carry significantly more pollutants through the San Diego River watershed, highlighting how urbanization and aging infrastructure can affect water quality.

The research also demonstrates the importance of long term monitoring, reliable public streamflow data and sustained investment in the science needed to understand and respond to water quality challenges.

Supported by the San Diego River Conservancy, this work shows how research can help communities and public agencies better understand where pollution comes from, how it moves and where infrastructure and monitoring investments may make a difference.

Wildfires are burning more land in Western watersheds that supply drinking water to communities across the region.

A new study led by San Diego State University researchers, in collaboration with researchers from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the U.S. Geological Survey, examined more than 80 years of wildfire activity and found that the average area burned in watersheds serving at least 100,000 people nearly doubled following a shift in wildfire patterns in the late 20th century.
