Alcala Guitar Studio

Alcala Guitar Studio Private guitar teacher based in Chula Vista, teaching everything from basic guitar to classical and fingerstyle guitar! I'm excited hear from you!

Have you ever tried learning guitar but just couldn't get it down? Does your child show an interest in music, but you have no idea where to start them? Private guitar lessons are the best way to ensure that your or your child will get the optimal tips to become an excellent musician! I teach my students everything from basic music reading to advanced classical guitar technique, which allows my students to build the skills needed to grow as a guitarist and as a musician. When I started private lessons, my teacher was a firm believer that a musician should learn how to read music, and I also agree. A musician's greatest asset is their ability to learn and to grow not only as a musician but as a person as well. Private lessons give a student the focused attention you wouldn't normally get in a class full of students. I focus on detail and making sure that my students know how to properly hold and play a guitar. Without this guidance, it's easy to pickup bad habits that are much harder to get rid of once learned. My teaching style incorporates the dexterity of both hands in order to play fingerstyle and classical guitar. If you hear on popular radio, most guitarists like Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran strum the strings, but fingerstyle allows for a guitarist to finger pick and use arpeggios to make the music more colorful. Most guitarists are "strummers" and what I teach takes guitar a step up from that, which makes you stand out from the millions of guitar players in the world. Private instruction acts as a catalyst for the growing musician, and I pride myself on my investment for each of my student's growth. Whether your child wants to learn of if you want to learn yourself, music is a wonderful world in which everyone should at least try. We work at the student's pace so please don't hesitate to call! Thanks,
Bianca Alcala

Foundation is EVERYTHING!!! πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘
One of the first things I teach my students is this warmup my teacher taught me which helps train the fingers to stretch and bend the proper way as well as using "I-M" fingerings on the right hand! A solid start is a solid student and technique is never something to ignore, especially when beginning. LIKE if you agree!!!

Talent creds to my awesome 10 year old student Kanoe, who's been with me for almost two years and currently working on Matteo Carcassi Studies 😎

Hello! Welcome to my new page for Alcala Guitar Studios! Here's a quick bio about me:

My name is Bianca Alcala, I was born and raised in the Philippines until my parents moved our family to the States. I struggled with making friends since I was shy and my parents decided to put me and my sister in guitar lessons to help me break out of my shell. Since then, I've been studying guitar for over ten years and I've personally seen how music can help a kid branch out and feel more confident! My guitar teacher taught me how to play fingerstyle guitar at a young age, as well as teaching me basic music theory, something that most teachers don't do. By the age of 13, I started writing my own fingerstyle arrangements by ear and performing and playing everywhere I could. I was "The Guitar GIrl" all through middle school and high school, and music defined me as a person. at the age of 17, I auditioned for CSU Fullerton's prestigious classical guitar program and ended up getting a Performance Award scholarship to work with the amazing Dr. Martha Masters, President of the Guitar Foundation of America. I turned down the opportunity to study music and chose to turn my focus into studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Music at San Diego State University. All in the while, I've been able to maintain my growth as a musician, landing gigs and become a well rounded musician playing everything from Classical Guitar to Electric Guitar. I believe my success as a musician all stems from my early exposure to private guitar lessons from an amazing teacher, Ron Palo. Without the attention he gave to me when I was a kid, I wouldn't be able to play the way I do today, let alone teach his methods to my own students.

I hope my story inspires you to pick up a guitar find your passion the way I did!
