🌍 Adjusting to a new culture? Here’s one phrase that captures the spirit perfectly: 入鄉隨俗 (rù xiāng suí sú) ✨

In Taiwan, you might often think: “Wait, this is how things are done here?” That’s when this Mandarin idiom comes in handy—入鄉隨俗, meaning “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”

It’s about more than just blending in. It’s about respecting local ways, embracing differences, and stepping out of your comfort zone.

🍔 Grabbing breakfast with a Western-style burger and a crispy Taiwanese scallion pancake
🎶 Knowing it’s trash time when you hear the garbage truck music

Just got back from a 12-day teachers’ workshop in Taiwan. AI-driven language teaching, aboriginal cultures in Taiwan, traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting, and tea cultures are just some of the topics we touched upon.
