Thank you to everyone who joined to kick off the season with a series of Coaches Caravans! It was a great turnout at all of our Caravan locations as Head Football Coach Sean Lewis and Athletic Director JD Wicker shared their experiences and insights as they looked ahead to the upcoming season with fellow Aztecs at each stop.

From underwater marine research to wildlife conservation and future medical care, Isaac Torres, Cesar Daniel Edeza, and Melissa Sicairos Bobadilla are proving there’s no limit to where an SDSU STEM degree can lead.

After beginning their journeys at Southwestern College, the trio found mentorship, research opportunities, and community through SDSU’s STEM Pathways program. This unique program offers support to transfer students, helping them turn their passions into a reality.

Now, they’re graduating prepared to protect oceans, care for animals, and serve future patients across their communities.

“I will always remember the meaningful connections and moments that have helped shape my understanding of teaching, as well as strengthened my confidence and passion for working with children.”

Meet Eenice Corpuz (‘26). Named one of SDSU College of Education’s 2026 Outstanding Graduates, Eunice Corpuz is turning her passion for child development into a future in education.

Through hands-on experiences in local classrooms, Eunice discovered the powerful impact teachers can have on young children and families, which has inspired her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher in San Diego.

“I love seeing him evolve into, not just my son, but my peer in school, and to watch us both grow in our knowledge and to do it together is just amazing.”

More than two decades after putting her college dreams on hold, Carina Hernandez-Carrillo crossed the graduation stage at San Diego State University alongside her son, Matthew Carrillo.

The mother-son duo both earned sociology degrees from the College of Arts and Letters at San Diego State University--The Official Page, turning years of perseverance and shared learning into one unforgettable milestone for the whole family.

Three generations of Aztecs, one incredible legacy. 🎓♥️

Mother and daughter duo Marceline Sciuto ('84, '94, '26) and Micaela Ruiz ('26) crossed the graduation stage together this past weekend at San Diego State University's 2026 Commencement.

Marceline earned her doctorate in educational leadership, 41 years after receiving her undergraduate degree from SDSU and decades after earning her master’s from the university as well, making her a proud triple alumna. Beside her in this milestone moment was her daughter, Micaela, who celebrated earning her MBA.

Their story began with Marceline’s father, who spent 17 years taking night classes before graduating from SDSU in 1975. Though he passed away earlier this year, his determination and love for education continue to inspire the generations that followed. Marceline's other daughter Angelina ('25), earned her master's degree from SDSU, and the family includes numerous other .

Their story is a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams and that some legacies only grow stronger with time.
