Let’s be real... budgeting kinda sucks sometimes 😬

Feel like you should have a budget by now and stick to it like a responsible adult?
But every time you try, you shut down or end up with another forgotten spreadsheet?

You're definitely not the only one 🙃

A recent article in the San Francisco Chronicle said most people associate budgeting with words like:
➡️ stress ➡️ guilt ➡️ confusion ➡️ restriction

As a Money Coach, I see this all the time. The truth is, people don’t avoid budgeting because they’re bad with money. They avoid it because the process often feels cold, rigid, and kinda shame-y.

So what if the problem isn’t you, or even your spending? What if the real problem is the word “budget”?

💭 What if we called it something else (like a spending plan or peace plan) that actually fits your values, lifestyle, energy, and season of life?

Try this quick mindset shift (takes 5 mins):

1️⃣ Write down 3 things you wish you could feel about money
(e.g. calm, confident, clear)

2️⃣ Ask yourself:
• “What would my next money decision look like if I already felt that way?”
• “If I had $100 to spend in a way that supports what matters most to me, how would I use it?”

🪄 Use your answers to guide your spending this week and see if spending feels different.

“I have no idea where my money is actually going.”

If you have ever thought that, Amazon Prime might be part of the reason, and...it may not be the deal you think it is 🫣.

A recent report from CIRP revealed something jaw-dropping:

💸 In 2024, Amazon Prime members spent $1,170 per year at Amazon. Non-members? Just $570.

That is nearly double the spending!! Plus, that doesn’t even include the $139 a year just to have Prime.

This isn’t about shaming or judging anyone. I totally get the appeal of two-day shipping and those quick “deals", BUT this is exactly how mindless and emotional spend can turn into a major leak in our finances without even noticing!

The result?

👉 You make decent money but still feel like you’re scraping by
👉 You overdraft even though your income should cover things
👉 You feel stuck in a cycle you can’t quite explain

Here is my (maybe unpopular) opinion:

Amazon Prime is not just a subscription. It is a convenience machine built to trigger instant gratification. It targets our pain points and offers a fast “fix”, but rarely a lasting one...

Before your next checkout, ask yourself:

✨ Is this purchase solving a real problem?
✨ What am I actually shopping for?
✨ Is this about the item, or is it filling something emotional?
✨ Is Prime costing me more than it’s saving?

Ready to take back control? Here’s how to cancel your Prime membership:

📱 On the app: Your Account > Manage Prime Membership > Update, cancel and more
👩‍💻 On the website: Account & Lists > Prime Membership > Update, cancel and more

Small shifts lead to big change. Keep going because you can take back control!

💬 What’s one recent purchase that felt truly aligned with your values and why?
Drop it in the comments 👇

Most budgeting advice stops at the numbers. But what about how you feel about what you're spending on and your energy??

Your emotional response to spending matters, but is often overlooked. When things feel off, it might be a good check-in to really reflect on your emotions around your spending.

I want to challenge you to ONE DAY of journaling (you can do ANYTHING for one day). Try this:

📝 Keep a log of what you spend on throughout the day
🧠 At night, do an energy and emotion check-in with yourself. Answer these questions:
1. Did that purchase feel aligned or draining?
2. Was it an act of self-care or self-sabotage?
3. What would I do differently next time?
4. What support or accountability do I need to make that happen?

The more aware you are of how money and energy interact, the more aligned and confident you’ll feel.

You don’t have to overhaul your whole life to feel more in control of your money! You can start small with habits that actually stick like these:

✨ Weekly money check-ins with your own money journal (not to judge, but to notice and observe your patterns)

✨ Spending with intention: What areas of your life do you want your money to support? What areas do you want to stop supporting with your money?
P.S. It's OKAY if you LOVE your daily coffee from your local cafe. You can have it AND make progress towards your money goals! ☕️💜

✨ Give every dollar a purpose that brings you joy and supports your goals

These habits help you build money confidence without shame or overwhelm!

If you’re ready to go from anxious to aligned, I’ve got you 💜

What’s one small money habit that helps you feel more in control without feeling restricted? 💬

Most of us think we need a total life overhaul to feel better about our money, but that’s rarely true!

Often, it’s small, consistent shifts that build lasting confidence.

Here are 3 habits that create calm (not chaos) around money:

✨ Weekly money check-ins with a money tracking platform OR a good old money journal (🔑The Key: Approach these check-ins from a place of curiosity, not shame, so you can start to notice your own patterns and plan ahead)

💸 Intentional spending! Ask yourself: Where do I value using my money? Where do I not? What do I need to shift?

🤝 Purposeful dollars AKA every dollar gets a job, whether it’s for joy or goals!
These aren’t about pressure - they’re about alignment with who you are and what matters to you.

I believe sustainable money habits come from intention and awareness, not restriction 🙅‍♀️

🌱 Hey friends! It’s been a while 🫠

A few years ago, I paused this account while I was coaching with a company I loved. I wasn’t posting much here, but I was doing what I do best behind the scenes: helping people step into financial clarity and confidence through aligned money coaching 💜.

Life, of course, has its own plans, and that company recently closed….also, in some very personal news… I’m pregnant! 🐣🤰

So now I’m navigating two big transitions: becoming a mother, and rebuilding this business in a way that feels more honest, grounded, and aligned than ever 🎉

If you’ve been around here a while: thank you for your support. If you’re new, welcome 👋🏼 I’ll be sharing more about how I work, what I offer, and ways I support folks who are ready to step into their own version of financial peace and power.

Tell me 👂 what season of life are you in right now? Let’s catch up!!👇
