Active Living Research shares evidence with advocates, policy-makers, and practitioners to prevent childhood obesity and promote active communities.

Active Living Research (ALR) uses existing research to contribute to policy and advocacy childhood obesity prevention strategies; builds the capacity of researchers to be more effective translators of research; and supports commissioned analyses that are timely and directly relevant to the childhood obesity prevention advocacy.

We invite submission of late breaking proposals related to increasing physical activity for all people to be considered for poster presentation at the 2023 Active Living Conference. Proposals related to equity for racially and ethnically diverse populations, people with disabilities, and those living in lower-income urban and rural communities who are at greatest risk for physical inactivity and its related diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other chronic conditions are encouraged. Poster presenters will be invited to share their work during a dedicated Networking Reception and Poster Session on Tuesday, March 14th, 3:30 – 5:30 pm. Poster boards will be 4 feet high and 6 feet long and tacks will be provided to attach your poster to the board.

The deadline for late breaking poster proposals is 11:59 pm PST on Friday, February 24 th and submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis so that notifications can be sent as quickly as possible.

Regretfully, due to recent upticks in COVID-19, the Active Living Conference has been postponed until 2023.

The 2023 Active Living Conference will take place March 13 – 16 at the Natcher Conference Center on the NIH Campus in Bethesda, MD. The next Active Living Conference theme, Expanding Active Living Applications beyond Chronic Diseases to Synergistic Epidemics, or β€œsyndemics”.
The Call for Session Proposals (CFP) will open after the first of the year, 2022, including both a research and a practice/policy submission category.
