🔹 Eligibility:
-Member or lineal descendant of a Native American tribe (must provide proof)
-Must be 17-25 years of age on the day of the powwow
-Must be a current student (high school or college) in good standing
-Must be knowledgeable about tribal traditions and powwow protocol
-May not be a UCSD Student due to payment policies

Apply to become a mentee in our Kinship Mentors Program! This program hopes to pair incoming first-year and transfer students with experienced students for the academic year as part of our kinship focused programming at the Intertribal Resource Center. Peer Kinship Mentors will assist incoming student mentees during their transition to UCSD and help connect them to campus resources. The program will also incorporate Native American and Indigenous cultural approaches to mentoring and programming. Incoming students will have the opportunity to have regular meetings with their mentors, connect with Native American and Indigenous faculty and staff, and attend culturally focused programs and events.

We were heartbroken and devastated to learn about the death of Nex Benefict, a Choctaw nonbinary teen whose life was taken in Oklahoma. We are partnering with CAPS and LGBTRC to offer a community space for healing and grieving. The space will be facilitated by CAPS, LGBTRC, and ITRC staff.
To our community members who are struggling and have been impacted by this senseless tragedy, we are here to support you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to ITRC staff or CAPS (24/7 line: 858-534-3755).
