The J. Paul Getty Museum hosted a presentation detailing Larry Brady's work on their iconic branding. From concept to ex*****on, Larry's work is an education in the techniques of the pre-digital world of hand drawn lettering. For those interested letter geeks - you can see that presentaiton here:

Initial wash over text for "The Road to Emmaus"

Photos from The Randall M. Hasson Studio's post 01/24/2026

For those of you who wanted an update - here is the finished initial writing layer. Theme of this painting is "The Road to Emmaus". For scale, that straight edge on top is 6 feet. Total about 110 linear feet of writing. More text and images to come...

Nobody ever said I was smart...

Some of you were wondering why I was looking for a particular nib, (and thank you to those who were kind enough to send me theirs!).

This is a beginning of a commissioned painting. This canvas is 7' wide and these lettering lines are 3/8" high on untreated canvas - just the first layer. So far I have written a little over 60 linear feet. Now only about 50 more feet to go. Only had one nib - which may last, or may not. Now I have at least a couple of backups!

Thanks for all your comemnts and suggestions!

Hi everyone - looking for a little help on a nib. I am looking for the Tachikawa Pen Nib - Type C (Broad edged - Italic) - 2 mm. These are out of production, and I have found (and ordered) other sizes, but I need the 2mm size. If anyone has the 2mm, I'd love to buy them from you - I am in the middle of a project on canvas and I only have one nib but need a backup(s).

Not sure where I got this - maybe a conference sample? Paper and Ink and John Neal don't have them anymore.

THanks for any help you can give!
