Ending the Fall quarter on a high note with our Winter Wellness Event! Scholars connected with each other and enjoyed relaxing activities like Gingerbread House Painting, Zen Garden Crafts, and making friendship bracelets! A huge shoutout to our scholars for powering through and finishing the quarter strong!

P4 appreciation post ❤️! Our P4 scholars are now navigating their fourth year at UC San Diego! With graduation right around the corner, our scholars have been planning out their post graduation pathways and exploring their career interests. Through the support of our graduate advocates and graduate prep workshops, our scholars have had the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and share strategies for pursuing academic and professional growth!

On October 19th, the UC San Diego PATHS Scholars Program attended the California Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education hosted by UC Riverside. This forum was designed to meet the needs of underrepresented undergraduate and masters students interested in doctoral-level programs.

Throwback to last quarter when the PATHS Program held a Wellness event for our scholars to provide a space for self care and mental wellness during finals week. Our scholars bonded over fun activities such as bracelet making, candle making, and a paint workshop! We're so glad to see our bright scholars prioritizing mental health and taking a well-deserved break!

During Spring Quarter, the PATHS Program held a painting workshop for our scholars to unwind and destress before finals week. Following a live tutorial, PATHS scholars were able to tap into their creative side and enjoy a peaceful afternoon with their peers!

Honored to celebrate our Director, Guadalupe Fernandez, for receiving the 2024 Excellence in Stewardship Award! 🌟 Through her leadership, Lupe has secured nearly $700,000 in scholarships for PATHS Scholars, helping thrive and succeed in their STEM journeys. Congratulations, Lupe! 👏

The PATHS Scholars Program has partnered with SD2, a non-profit organization in the community of San Diego, and created a scholarship opportunity for our PATHS Scholars. SD2 focuses on increasing diversity in STEM careers by inspiring, supporting, and mentoring students at every stage of the talent pipeline. This year, we have named 8 amazing scholars to be SD2-PATHS Scholars. These scholars were each chosen because of their keen dedication to their fields of study. Congratulations to: Osamudiamen Omoma-Edosa, Kalil Barnes, Michele Mendoza, Kaitlyn Ochoa, Lorelai Nelson, Marie Joe Franci, Sydney Zeng, and Leilani Rivera!

Throwback to when our scholars visited Becton Dickinson for an industry tour. BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies that aims to advance the world of health. BD has been a great partner to PATHS and has offered internship opportunities, networking events, and informational sessions to our scholars. Special thanks to the team at BD for the insightful and exciting tour!

Happy Holidays! PATHS celebrated the holidays with our scholars last week and had a gingerbread decorating competition, a candle-making station, and a holiday photo booth! Here's to the holiday season and the wonderful memories we created with our scholars! ☃️❄️

Shout out to PATHS Alum, Tina Dang, for facilitating an alumni chat with our PATHS Scholars majoring in Psychology and Cognitive Science. Tina current works at RARE-X, where she brings experience in neuropsychological assessments for individuals with adult onset neurodegenerative diseases. She is passionate about research in neurodegenerative diseases in all populations. Her alumni chat centered on her journey transition as a student to postgraduate life and employment. She provided insightful major specific and general advice and tips to scholars to navigate their college career.
