In 2018, Kevin Beiser secured a 3rd term as San Diego Unified District B representative. Dr. Michael McQuary, set to retire, won the District C seat.
In the 2020 elections, all 3 teacher-union backed candidates defeated community candidates, maintaining control of California’s 2nd largest school district.
In 2020, Voters demanded reform of SDUSD by overwhelmingly approving DISTRICT-ONLY elections for SDUSD Trustees, now set to begin in 2022.
In the upcoming 2022 races, District B & C residents finally have the exclusive right to choose their next SDUSD representative. No more city-wide contests that allowed voters from one sub-district to cast ballots in every sub-district race. It’s about time.
Having played a role in ushering in District-only elections for SDUSD since running in 2018, I have continued the fight for ethical, accountable, and transparent representation of California’s 2nd largest school district.
As you did in 2018, please join me in this fight by visiting: https://www.thearistotlefoundation.org
The need for leadership has never been greater. Join the fight!

3 of the 6 candidates here will lead California’s 2nd largest school district. If you live in SD, then you better pay attention and choose wisely. It’s your schools, your taxes, your communities, your vote that matters! I know which 3 I’m voting for. Do you?

San Diego has indeed come a long way in recognizing LGBT rights and I applaud our community for taking meaningful and verifiable steps that have effectively lead to demonstrable gains in combating discrimination.
Yet there are larger minority groups that San Diego Unified has turned a blind eye to - our students of color, which represents the overwhelming majority of students in San Diego Unified. This District is failing to provide a meaningful pathway and plan of accountability for the tens of thousands of African American, Latino, and API students that do not meet state testing standards in math and English.
There is a leadership gap in San Diego Unified. And with three of five seats up for election in 2020, our communities deserve to know that there are much bigger problems we are facing in our communities. I hope that as we approach election season that we remember to spotlight the importance of the 2020 races for San Diego Unified. If history is to be our guide, we should expect that the powers of the status quo will throw enormous sums of money once again in support of incumbents that see no real need for change in the 2nd largest school district in California.
I respectfully disagree. It’s time for change San Diego.
San Diego Unified a pioneer in advocacy for LGBT
For P.E. teacher Lynn Barnes-Wallace, San Diego Unified has come a long way since Dec. 1, 1992, when she stood in front of the school board and asked them to ban discrimination against gay and le***an students and staff, such as herself.

Demonizing and limiting public school choice by blaming district fiscal problems on public school charters instead of on the out of control fiscal problems districts have in rising pension and healthcare costs still does not bring accountability to district-run schools.
Charter school ‘reforms’ actually a threat
The California Teachers Association is pushing two charter school “reforms” that are actually steps to strongly discourage them. The unions and their supporters claim that charters, which serve of the state’s 6 million students, are riddled with , run by corporate profiteers and driving budget...

A majority 3 of 5 seats are up for grabs in the 2nd largest school district in California in 2020. Vote them out San Diego.

I'm happy when I can point out that Democrats, Republicans, & Independents can and do agree. As a Republican, I've been fighting alongside Dems & Indies that spotlight the need for accountability in our public education system. Thank you VOSD for printing the fallacy that fixing a broken election process is NOT a "Republican" ploy.
If the City Doesn't Revisit San Diego Unified Elections, the State Will - Voice of San Diego
Assemblywoman Shirley Weber has introduced a bill that would change San Diego Unified Board of Education races to subdistrict-only elections. The bill is on a two-year track to allow the City Council time to possibly introduce its own reforms sooner.

With student academic achievement performance failing while parents are denied a choice that works where Districts don't, I can't understand why anyone would be smiling.
Morning Report: Beiser Is Back - Voice of San Diego

My interview this evening with K**I. Do you agree that Beiser should step down?
After weeks of hiding, Kevin Beiser's appearance leaves more questions than answers -
SAN DIEGO (K**I) – After nearly of month of hiding, San Diego Unified trustee Kevin baser showed up at tonight’s board meeting, but his appearance left more questions than answers. Not even the board knows what’s going on. Beiser showed up today like business as usual. He then he slipped out w...

San Diego Unified elections violate the California Voting Rights Act and are now being challenged in court. By District elections would make recalling a ‘Beiser’ easier and effective.

This is really sad. Struggling students did have an option that worked until the SDUSD board chose to close Thrive Public Schools. 80% of kids that came to Thrive were 4 years behind and came from schools like Porter. Instead of supporting our community with a choice, the SDUSD board chose to shut Thrive down but have no answers for Porter Elementary. Duplicitous? Board member Evans stated - “If a neighborhood school is not performing, we very definitely need to take a serious look at what needs to change for it to improve. Closing the school does not accomplish that.” Hmm? Why close a successful school where kids like these have a fighting chance? What needs to change is a board that has no answers for families that need it the most. !
Schools Like Porter Elementary Are Struggling Badly and There’s No Clear Plan to Fix Them - Voice of San Diego
Parents and a school counselor say they must fight tirelessly to get students at Porter Elementary the services they’re legally entitled to. The NAACP has filed a complaint against the school. It’s one of nine traditional public schools in San Diego Unified to make the state’s list of most und...

When districts fail to perform due diligence or report instances of sexual misconduct of a teacher, it doesn't simply expose districts to financial risk. Far worse is it created the opportunity for a teacher accused of sexual assault to slip from one district to another that resulted in another sexual assault that should was avoidable. Tragic.
