We wanted to share some highlights from our Diwali Celebration on Thursday, October 30, 2024!

Diwali, the festival of lights, originated in India. It symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, and it was amazing to see that spirit come alive in our community! It was so much fun see our communities creativity shine through with the clay lamp painting and beautiful chalk art. We hope you enjoyed all the sweet treats we had to share!

Here are some highlights of our Día de los Mu***os celebration on Tuesday, October 29, 2024!

Thank you for everyone who came to celebrate. We hope you enjoyed the amazing mariachi band and the energetic dancers performing baile folklórico.

This Mexican holiday is all about honoring our ancestors and loved ones who have passed. It’s a time to remember them and celebrate life.

We’re thrilled to share these performances, activities, and delicious cuisines with you. We look forward to seeing you at future events that we continue to celebrate together!

Get Ready to Welcome New Roommates This Fall!

As the Fall quarter approaches, some of you may find yourselves with a vacant room in your apartment that will soon be occupied by a new student. Here are some quick tips to help ensure a smooth and welcoming transition for everyone:

• Keep Common Areas Clean: Make a great first impression and maintain a pleasant living environment by keeping shared spaces tidy. Need cleaning supplies? Check them out for free from the housing office!

• Prepare Space for New Arrivals: Ensure that your new roommate has enough space in common areas to store their belongings. A little room rearranging can make a big difference in making everyone feel comfortable.

• Complete a Roommate Agreement: Start off on the right foot by discussing each person’s preferences and needs. Be honest about your living habits and set clear ground rules. See the Graduate Family Housing resources page for the roommate agreement.

• Create a Welcoming Environment: A friendly greeting and an inviting atmosphere can make all the difference in helping your new roommate settle in. Consider planning a small welcome activity or simply spend some time getting to know each other.

Embracing these steps will help foster a harmonious living situation for all. Here’s to a fantastic start to the Fall quarter!

We hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer!

Enjoy the Pool Safely - Know the Rules: 🌊

As the summer heat continues in sunny San Diego, the Mesa Nueva pool is the perfect place to cool down. Open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, we want to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Here are the key rules to keep in mind:

• Only service animals are permitted in the pool area, and they should not sit on the furniture unless performing a trained duty. Please note, Emotional Support Animals are not allowed at the pools or spas at any time.

• Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Let's keep our young swimmers safe and supervised.

• The emergency shut-off switch is crucial for pool safety but should only be used in actual emergencies. Misuse of this switch not only disrupts the fun but also taints the water, potentially leading to pool closures for repairs.

By following these guidelines, you help maintain a fun and safe environment for all residents. Dive in, enjoy the cool water, and thank you for keeping our community safe!
