More than 50 students from Ella B. Allen, Los Altos, Enrique S. Camarena, Corky McMillin, J. Calvin Lauderbach, and Joseph Casillas laced up their running shoes for this season’s Cross Country race! Along the way, students encouraged one another and cheered on their friends as they crossed the finish line. Congratulations to all of our runners on a fun LEAD Sports season!

From students to habitat engineers! At ’s Life Science Camp, military-connected students took on the challenge of designing zoo habitats, learning how systems, environments, and living things work together to support animal life. Through hands-on work with the San Diego County Office of Education, they stepped into the role of engineers and connected the pieces that keep habitats thriving.

The Junior Co-Ed Soccer season wrapped up with Valley Vista Elementary taking home the championship, followed by CVLCC in second place, Feaster Charter in third, and Ella B. Allen as a finalist. From start to finish, our LEAD Sports student-athletes had an incredible season!

Bilingual learning shined at Veterans Elementary’s Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Showcase! Each grade level celebrated their accomplishments with songs and dances for families. To make the celebration even more special, sixth grade students received stoles for completing the program, and DLI teachers were honored with thank you flowers. With Dual Language Immersion offered at 23 schools, students across the district are building multilingual skills that open doors to a future full of global possibilities.

’s Board of Education also honored Ms. Theresa Corona, AACV President and principal of Silver Wing Elementary, for her distinguished service and dedication to our students, staff, and families. Her leadership and contributions have left a lasting impact on the Chula Vista community. We thank Ms. Corona for her service and wish her a joyful retirement.

At last night's meeting, ’s Board of Education recognized Executive Director Lalaine Perez for her outstanding service, leadership, and dedication to the students, staff, and families of the Chula Vista Elementary School District. Her many contributions have made a meaningful impact across our community. We thank Ms. Perez for her exceptional service and wish her a happy retirement.

Celebrating our Co-Ed Soccer champions, a big round of applause to Valley Vista Elementary for taking first place, followed by Arroyo Vista Charter in second, J. Calvin Lauderbach in third, and Heritage as finalists. Students in LEAD Sports brought energy, determination, and strong support for one another in every match. Congratulations to all!

Summer LEAD Academy students spent three exciting days at the Qualcomm Thinkabit Innovation Camp, where they explored their interests through a career-focused assessment (RIASEC) and connected them to real-world opportunities. Throughout the camp, they built skills in coding, engineering, and prototyping while working in teams to design smart city solutions for community challenges. The experience wrapped up with an Innovation Expo, where they presented their projects and shared their ideas.

Congratulations to Sonia Sotomayor Elementary on winning the Co-Ed Basketball finals, with Veterans Elementary taking second, Enrique S. Camarena taking third, and Anne & William Hedenkamp as finalists. The championship game was exciting all the way through, with both teams' scores staying close the entire time. We’re so proud of our LEAD Sports teams for their teamwork and sportsmanship!

: Applications are now open for 's 2026-27 Parent Ambassador Program cohort! As a Parent Ambassador, you will serve as a liaison between families and their school sites, helping to share information and build meaningful relationships. You will also have the opportunity to connect with other parent leaders from across the district, learn about programs and resources firsthand, and play a key role in shaping family engagement at your school.
