All about my personal obsession with House Bunnehs (and maybe some occasional ramblings about my obsession with Honey Bees, see "RFBs Bees" on fb)!

**This is a page all about 'hoomins' and 'bunnehs'; a peek into my family's bunneh world, and the lives of our 4 rescued house-rabbits (our bunnehs). We live in the Rancho Penasquitos area of San Diego, Ca.

[1] Eadie (short for Eadie Van-"Hay"-Len) is a Black Havana rabbit (female/spayed), and weighs about 4.5 lbs. She was born in July 2011 and adopted from the Western PA Humane Society in Pitts

Romeo and Trixie, from Feb. 2019.

Trixie crossed the Rainbow Bridge suddenly and unexpectedly on April 26, 2024 at the age of 10, knowing she was truly loved.

We've been a little (ok, alot!) off the radar for the past few years. There is so much to update, but until we have a chance to fill in the voids, here's our happy news! (updated names to follow)

Dumpling and Darling rescued from the Los Alamitos Race Track in early April were adopted today! They will be super spoiled by a very rabbit-savvy human. Yay!

Email: [email protected] if interested in adopting or fostering a rabbit(s).

Bunny bonding (when adopting from Kribs for Kritters), boarding and grooming offered.

Flash-back Friday: A post from back in December 2018. Good to remember happy times.

Eeyore (white Lionhead) is SUCH a ham! (yes, we have 4, but the 2 "little guys" are not camera-hogs.) Eeyore was a foster-fail as a baby from Shelly's Shelter Rescue! Eadie was adopted from a shelter in Pittsburgh.

This picture was taken at the request of a friend. It was taken only 3 days before Eeyore (fuzzy-butt on the right) passed away suddenly, and is probably the last picture ever taken of him. It is currently the banner on my personal page. I am grateful to my friend Shannon for asking me to take it.

It is with a heavy heart that we said farewell to 2020 without my beloved Eeyore. Eeyore died suddenly on December 18, 2020 at the young age of 4 1/2 years old. The vet says it was an extremely rare event that took my fur-baby. I was with him all through the last 3 hours of his short life.

He became distressed one afternoon after aspirating some food into his trachea, something the vet says would only happen to a rabbit that already had something wrong with their gastro-digestive system and would already be in a weakened and compromised state (bunnies are VERY good at hiding any distress). I immediately recognized the emergency and had him at the vet within 5 minutes. Over the next 3 hours, he was placed on oxygen and the vets searched feverishly for any way this condition could be treated. Before anything could be done other than making him comfortable, he passed away after only 3 hours.

Looking back over various "weird" incidents throughout his 4+ years with me, I can in 20-20 hindsight recognize some very subtle signs that all lead back to somewhere in his eating system. One notable symptom that I overlooked was a very pungent smell to his urine starting about 6 months ago. With 4 rabbits living together, there was no way to know that one rabbit was having a problem, and I presumed that 4 rabbits living together make more smell and have to have their litter changed more frequently. We only figured this out after Eeyore passed away that with just the 3 remaining rabbits, that awful urine smell was gone entirely.

Eeyore started off with me at 5-weeks old as a foster, part of a very large rescue in August 2016. I took in 5 baby fosters at that time, and named them Baby-A, Baby-B, etc. The tiniest and most runt-like (see the second picture - that was right after he was rescued) was named Baby-E. It was soon apparent that he was going to be a foster-fail, and Baby-E evolved into Eeyore, though to the end he was frequently still called Baby-E. Babies A-D all found their furrever homes though the San Diego House Rabbit Society, Inc and Shelly's Shelter Rescue, but Baby-E became "my" Eeyore.

It has taken me until now, over 1 month later, to write this epitaph, so I apologize to all my Bunny-Friends that I was not able to let you know sooner.

Binky-free, my little Baby-E, binky-free.

Wonderful sentiment, and so true!

We made this wonderful letter we received into a poster. We hope the message will be heard that 'Rabbits make great pets for parents!'
