Just finished up with another group of new grad nurses. This cohort we had 10 new grads from 3 different hospitals. They completed 6 simulation days that include didactic and hands on learning (all designed by us). We are proud to say we are training the next generation of ER nurses so that when us or our loved ones need care, we trust those caring for us. Here’s to 2024 planning!

Did you know that nurses are usually the first healthcare providers that a domestic violence victim encounters, and yet only one-third of police identified domestic violence victims are identified within the emergency department? Here at NTS we know how crucial it is provide education to nurses about domestic violence and the available resources. Today and everyday, NTS stands with those affected by domestic violence and we will continue to advocate for education and empower new nurses to be able to better recognize and serve those affected.

Arguably, one of the most important parts of teaching new graduate nurses, is to have frequent debriefing sessions. Nursing as a career is HARD, and it is even harder for new grad nurses trying to learn the way. Debriefing should include identifying knowledge gaps, while also celebrating the learners wins. NTS has a lot of debriefing skills and methods that we are ready to provide! Visit our website for more information.

So much talk about training new grad nurses. How do you teach those who are teaching the new grad nurses? NTS has created a proven successful preceptor development course that includes classroom and simulation based learning. By doing this, you are educating the preceptors which makes them feel empowered and involved, and then your new graduate nurses are having a more successful orientation.

Nursing education doesn’t have to be boring, in fact it should be fun! Keeping teaching and simulations fun keep your learners engaged. With the holidays quickly approaching, we like to bring out Santa for all of our learners to experience the types of emergencies he could present with in December
