Welcome back from the holiday weekend! As we continue to get to know some of our Student Success staff, meet Mary, one of our Student Success Counselors!
Things I love and like to do: I love spending time with family & friends, going to the beach, watching funny tv shows (Parks & Rec is a fave), dancing, listening to music, & trying to cook new recipes from time to time
Something interesting people might not know about you: I have 2 different colored eyes
Favorite student success resource or tip: Making a good, balanced schedule & sticking to it is key! It helps you feel more in control, less stressed, and you get more done.

Things I love and like to do: I love spending time with my family, going to the beach, camping, reading and traveling.
Something interesting people might not know about you: Three generations of my family have attended and worked at PLNU
Favorite student success resource or tip: Carve out time at the beginning of every week to plan your week. Schedule when you will complete each assignment, especially using SMART goals to be realistic with your time and expectations. I love the google assignment tracker as a tool to use to plan your week!

Things I love and like to do: I love to travel, baseball, movies, cat and interspecies friendship videos, zombies, succulents, and beach days.
Something interesting people might not know about you: My husband and I met in middle school but only reconnected about 8 years ago!
Favorite student success resource or tip: My fav resource is our GPS Writing Center. They help students of all levels of proficiency to develop and strengthen effective writing skills. Contact the Writing Center to see how they can help you: [email protected].

Since it’s the 1st of the month, we wanted to highlight a resource that the Student Success Counselors LOVE! has some great tools for building a more positive society that starts with our personal lives. Their goal is to be happier and kinder together. Check out this month’s calendar “New Ways November” that is all about trying something new! What new things will you try this month?

Join us this month for our CANNED FOOD DRIVE! Our goal is to collect 10,000 cans! Recipients include: San Diego Food Bank, Loaves and Fishes Ministry, Bakersfield Homeless Center, Joseph’s Storehouse Food Pantry, and Shechem Home for Children.
You can drop cans off at our Mission Valley, Liberty Station, and Bakersfield campuses or you can donate via venmo (). $1 = 5 cans of food!

Things I love and like to do: Shopping, time with family outdoors, decorating our home, drinking coffee and eating cinnamon rolls!
Something interesting people might not know about you: I was on the very first women’s soccer team (still in club status) at PLNU.
Favorite student success resource or tip: Reach out early and often! We are here to support you, or point you in the right direction. Don’t hesitate to ask your question, someone else might be wondering the same thing.

Things I love and like to do: I love to read, hike, rock climb, bask at the beach, and connect to nature. I love to eat delicious food but only like to make it myself. Also dancing. Dancing is great.
Something interesting people might not know about you: I have a bizarrely good memory when it comes to movie facts and quotes.
