Okay information comes in many forms - images, sounds AND words so I feel justified calling “We’re Going On a Bear Hunt” an informational text that is appropriate for age 1 😍😆

Today is a new day! Tomorrow will be too, and we can restart the day at any point. Do you have a “reset button?” I do, mine is sitting down at the table to write in my journal/planner/calendar. Once I do that and take some quiet breaths I can move forward a little bit calmer and more ready to roll with the punches 😜

This morning we all put the laundry away together! I sent the kids to get hangers and carry their own clean underwear to their place, and had them put towels in the kitchen drawer and taught Axel how to fold bandanas for his Dad to take to work. While I’m teaching my toddlers to do their own small responsibilities (pick up toys, put on their own socks, etc) I also am learning to let them help me with my responsibilities! Turns out that even though it takes longer to accomplish things, these little learners are capable of so much. There’s a lot of times I love the DIY movement and ideas but I think Do It Together us an even better ring to it 🥰

I love this quote from it’s something I think about usually mid-morning when the day is beginning to spiral out and I’ve lost the energy my first cup of coffee gave me... it’s about this time I’m about two time outs away from screaming at my kids and it helps me to pause and remember the beginning of the day might not have gone to plan - but I can start turning things around in that moment. Three things I do to adjust the day’s trajectory: 1. Make my bed. I feel calmer when my room is less messy. 2. Walk around the outside of my house. There’s always something to pick up and I feel good for putting it in its place plus fresh air works wonders for my mood. 3. Read a book with the kids in their room. Something about having them all within arms reach with our heads together helps me appreciate the special moments flying by.

Geneticists calculate that humans are about 99.9% the same... differences in our DNA make up 0.1%.

Anyone else up for this trade? Socrates was so infuriating and contrarian he was sentenced to death, right? But he was also Plato’s main teacher and a foundational part of the history of western thought. Steve Jobs changed our lives with Apple’s personal electronic devices - if the two of these guys were having a conversation in a room I’d put my iphone down to listen and learn...
