Followed by the Symphony at Jacobs Music Center to be serenaded with love songs. This newly renovated music center, originally built in 1929, is gorgeous! Great event!

It's been over a year since I started volunteering at the garden. I love sharing my knowledge whenever needed and GAINING knowledge about something that brings me such joy...gardening! 🌷🌻🌵🦋🐝
Temecula Valley Rose Society owns Rose Haven Heritage Garden, which is a 3.4-acre garden in south Temecula. It's the home to over 2,000 roses, a beautiful pond, a romantic gazebo, a healing labyrinth, well-kept pathways, multiple barn owl boxes, newly added Pollinator Garden, and so much more!!
I am grateful for the friendships I have made and the opportunity to volunteer for such an active non-profit organization within our community. We have so many exciting projects lined up in the future...one being, celebrating Rose Haven's 35th anniversary this year!
We're also gearing up for the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics, where Temecula will be hosting the equestrian events. We hope to help welcome the Olympians & guests, and be of service to the city.
Rose Haven hosts educational workshops and also grows their own food, which they donate to the local food banks to help families in need. All of this could not be done without the help from our generous donors, support from our garden visitors, our awesome members, and our fabulous volunteers!

MY STORY
I was not an athlete in school. I didn't do "diets" as a young adult. I am third generation Mexican-American, born and raised in California, that ate whatever I wanted...tortillas, soda, pan dulce, Twinkies, even white bread with just mayonnaise on it. I never ran, occasionally I would go to the gym, but I had no idea what I was doing and I felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed to ask for help. I just didn't make my diet and fitness a priority and it was taking a toll on my health.
In August of 2014, I had had ENOUGH! I was over 185 pounds (I'm 5'2). I couldn't climb the stairs or bend over to tie my shoes without being winded. I was given a warning by my doctor that I was pre-diabetic. Scared me to death!
August 2014 changed my life! I decided to do something out of character and I enrolled in a Fit4mom 8 week session. I was the slowest runner. I couldn't do a sit-up...but these moms never gave up on me. They shared their journey and EMPOWERED me to push on. I learned to eat CLEAN. I learned I was STRONGER than I thought. I learned the truth about the food industry.
It took MANY sessions, it took lots of time, it took a lot of hard work...but it was so worth it!!
For over 6 years, I have worked in Healthcare. I have my bachelor's in Health Care Administration. Currently, I am working on my certificate in Nutrition. I work part-time with a long commute into San Diego 3 days a week. On the days I am home, you can find me knee deep in laundry, working on sight words, shuttling my cubs to and from school and practices; but you can also find me doing Yoga, Meal Prepping and in my garage Gym.
Somebody believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. And I am here today to pay it forward to you.
