3rd grade has been learning about seed dispersal. We all wore fuzzy socks and ran around in the grass to see what would stick to the socks. We learned that some seeds stick to animal fur and then are carried away from the parent plant. The seeds fall off elsewhere and have the possibility of growth.

We love STEM at the park day!
Science is great!!!!

Today we made Trinskele Orbs. The students were so into how complicated it looked yet how simple it really was. I was surprised by what a tactile experience they had with the finished product. We also made fall lanterns. I was so impressed with the creativity.

Last year, we focus on artists, their history, and their style. This year we are crafting. Today’s craft was pumpkins/ Jack-o’lanterns. Students could choose if they wanted to turn their pumpkins into Jack-o’lanterns. I used my Cricut to cut the faces but left the vinyl sheet unpeeled until the end so they had no idea what was coming.

I love my students! This week we learned about Fibonacci. They really caught on quickly to the Fibonacci sequence. My first grader was so focused and could easily figure out the next number in the sequence through the 9th number (34). We made Fibonacci spirals, discussed how the sequence relates to nature, and made Fibonacci snack sticks. They would eat their snack and then make another one!
