Hey everyone,

I wanted to share two inspiring stories from our students who recently worked with us.

First up, we have Aarav. He started with us earlier this year and wasn’t exactly the most committed student at first. He completed the ACT course, but missed a lot of homework and practice tests. Even though he didn’t fully meet our guarantee, we chose to continue working with him. And guess what? Aarav scored a 35 on the July 13th exam! 🎉

I just had a realization.

We're the tutoring company you turn to after you've tried others.

Yesterday, I sat down with four families to discuss their students' progress. For some, we had to enroll them in a boot camp because they were struggling with content knowledge. Others needed a push to join my personal class, focusing on students aiming for high 1400s but needing that extra push to reach the 1500s.

During our conversations, they all mentioned something interesting—they'd never received this level of attention at their previous SAT prep company.

Turns out, every single one of them had already tried another tutoring service. And the outcome? Well, it was pretty much the same. Students enjoyed the sessions, but overall, there wasn't much improvement.

You know why? Because nobody was ensuring they applied the strategies. It's like when I decided to try snowboarding after years of skiing. My brother-in-law gave me a crucial piece of advice: "If you're serious about learning to board, leave your skis behind."

At first, snowboarding was tough. I fell, struggled, and got frustrated. But I stuck with it, remembering his words.

My go-to question for students is, "What are the four reasons to use a comma?"

Their top response? "When you want to pause."

Grammar, much like math, follows a structured approach. I vividly recall Mrs. Anderson challenging us in third grade to diagram sentences from a New York Times article. It was a revelation—the first time I grasped the underlying structure of grammar, despite knowing it inherently.

Sounds peculiar, doesn't it? But did you know, when describing a noun with multiple adjectives, there's a specific order: number, opinion, size, condition, age, shape, color, origin, material, purpose?

For instance, "Two ugly small dirty old thin red Italian cotton sleeping bags" flows seamlessly compared to "Ugly two dirty small red thin cotton Italian sleeping bags." The former just sounds right, yet few of us understood why until now.

Grammar often relies on what sounds pleasing. Let's transition from the realm of sounding good to mastering the grammar section for the SAT and ACT.

Test Day Check List for the DSAT!!!

Ready for the DSAT this Saturday? While it marks the first in-person administration in the states, our students have been tackling the real adaptive digital SAT since March 2023. Preparing for test day has evolved significantly from the days of pencil and paper. To ensure your students are fully equipped, here's a helpful checklist we've refined over the past year:

Pre-Game Checklist:
1. Download the Bluebook app on the device you intend to use for the test.
2. Five days prior to the test, the Bluebook will be updated with your hall ticket and a system check option. Run the system check before test day.
3. Print out your hall ticket.
4. Charge your device the night before.
5. Bring your charger and an extension cord.
6. The proctor will use the Exam Day Toolkit app to monitor test progress and address any minor technical issues. Report any technical problems to the proctor immediately.
7. Bring a snack, such as a chocolate bar, to enjoy during the break.
8. Bring pens or pencils for scratch work; scratch paper will be provided.
9. If you plan to use a physical calculator, bring it with you on test day.
10. During the test, the Bluebook locks the computer screen to prevent navigation away from the app. Do not attempt to close the app or open another window. CollegeBoard has occasionally canceled student attempts even when no cheating occurred, so it's crucial to adhere to this guideline.
