In a season where my wonderlust is in inextinguishable and my ability to travel has been light -at best- this anthology has taken me back in time and around the world on so many glorious surf adventures connecting deeply back to places and feelings I’ve had and even experiences I have not had.
I am feeling so much gratitude to these fearless powerhouse water spirits who have trailblazed the seas as women on water.
When by the ocean I feel connected to God and my Devine feminine in the power and flow in the water. Reading about the origins of princess and demigods and just all around bad bi***es in the surf around places I’ve had the pleasure of surfing from Malibu to Santa Cruz has given me delight, and pride and nostalgia.
Where for reasons I know I was feeling disconnected from this ineffable power source in my life.
It’s been refreshing and powerful to reconnect to the water on the dry land with a good book.

Today I’m honoring the sacred art of motherhood…
Not just the mothers who gave birth,
but the women who have nurtured, protected, comforted, encouraged, carried, listened, loved, and held others through storms.
Motherhood is more than biology.
It is devotion.
Presence.
Soft strength.
The ability to keep loving even when exhausted.
And somewhere along the way, many mothers learned to pour endlessly outward… while forgetting they, too, are worthy of tenderness, rest, care, and receiving.
But love was never meant to move in only one direction.
Self love is not selfish.
It is sacred replenishment.
It is allowing yourself to receive the same compassion you so freely give away.
So today, may all mothers — and all nurturers — remember:
You do not have to earn rest.
You do not have to prove your worth through depletion.
You are allowed to be held too.
May you receive love.
May you feel appreciated.
May you soften.
May you remember that your presence alone has shaped lives in ways you may never fully know.
Happy Mother’s Day to the women who mother children, communities, animals, dreams, healing spaces, and hearts. 🌺
Hauʻoli Lā Māmā — with waves of love 🌊💙.

You don’t have to stay here.
If you’ve been feeling stuck lately—heavy, overwhelmed, or like you’re “doing all the right things” but still not okay… I just want to remind you:
Things can shift.
Not always overnight.
Not always in a big dramatic way.
But in small moments… in your nervous system… in your body… in the way you start meeting yourself with a little more kindness.
Sometimes the first shift is simply realizing:
“I don’t have to do this alone.”
If you want a few gentle tools + support (and ocean-inspired practices I love), I put something together here:

What’s one thing that helps you feel even 5% more grounded when life feels like a lot? I’d love to hear. 💛

Support can be simple.
And it doesn’t have to overwhelm you.
I think a lot of us avoid reaching out because we assume it means…
explaining everything, unpacking our whole life, making it a “big thing.”
But sometimes support is as simple as:
• a check-in text
• a walk outside
• a few deep breaths with your hand on your heart
• sitting by the ocean and letting your nervous system settle
• having one safe person who gets it
If you’ve been carrying a lot lately, here’s your reminder:
You don’t have to do it all alone. And you don’t have to do it all at once.
What kind of support feels *actually helpful* to you right now—practical help, emotional space, or just someone to listen?

Your nervous system matters.
More than motivation.
Because if your body is in survival mode…
“just do it” doesn’t land the same.
Sometimes what looks like procrastination is actually overwhelm.
Sometimes what feels like “no discipline” is a regulated system trying to protect you.
And sometimes the most productive thing you can do is come back to safety first.
A quick check-in if you need it today:
Take one slow breath in… longer exhale out… and let your shoulders drop.
What’s been supporting your nervous system lately — even in a small way?
(Or what’s been draining it?) I’d love to hear.

Small shifts still count.
Because your body notices. 🤍
Not every change has to be loud or dramatic to be real.
Sometimes it’s:
- taking one deep breath before you respond
- unclenching your jaw when you catch it
- stepping outside for 2 minutes of air + light
- choosing one kinder thought about yourself
Your nervous system *tracks* those moments.
And over time… they add up.
What’s one small shift you’re proud of lately (even if it seems “tiny”)? I’d love to hear it.

You can name it simply.
“Overwhelmed.”
“Sad.”
“Burnt out.”
“Disconnected.”
“Anxious.”
You don’t have to explain it perfectly.
You don’t have to justify it.
You don’t have to turn it into a whole story to be allowed to need support.
Sometimes naming it is the first kind thing you do for yourself.
And honestly… that’s enough.
What’s one word that describes how you’ve been feeling lately? (No fixing it—just naming it.)

Burnout isn’t weakness.
It’s overload.
It’s your nervous system waving a flag that says:
“Too much. Too fast. Too long.”
And if you’ve been trying to push through with willpower, productivity hacks, or “just be positive”… you’re not broken. You’re human.
A few gentle signs it might be overload (not failure):
• you’re tired but can’t truly rest
• your brain feels foggy or scattered (hello, ADHD overwhelm)
• little things feel huge
• your body feels tense for no reason
If this hits close to home, I put something together to support you—simple, grounding, and body-based. No pressure, just here if you want it: subscribepage.io/SelfLuv
What’s one sign your body gives you when you’re nearing burnout? I’d love to hear.

You don’t need more discipline.
You need *capacity*.
A lot of us (especially with ADHD, anxiety, or depression) have been taught to “just try harder”…
but if your nervous system is already maxed out, discipline can feel like pushing on a locked door.
Capacity is the difference between:
• forcing yourself through the day 😮💨
and
• actually having the inner space to do the thing
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is regulate first:
a few slower breaths, a short walk, a body shake, a cold rinse, ocean time, a pause before the scroll.
If you’ve been feeling “lazy” or stuck lately… what if it’s not laziness at all?
What if you’re just at capacity?
What’s one thing that helps you build capacity when life feels like a lot? I’d love to hear.👇
