It is so rewarding to help my students succeed. I just received this review...

"I was doing very bad in the beginning of the year with Stats, with grades averaging low C's. However, after getting tutored by Dian, my grades shot up to high B's and A's. Not only did I raise my grades, but I gained so much more confidence in every unit test, including the AP exam. Dian responded immediately to every one of my questions through text and email, even if it was late at night. I really wish she tutored other AP subjects!! I highly recommend Dian for anybody taking Statistics."

What My Students Say...

Knowledgeable and Compassionate

Without the help of Dian I don’t think I would have passed Principles of Statistics, a course at my university. I have never been a fan of math because it has been a subject I have struggled with my entire life. I’m someone who has to put extra efforts into my studies if I want to do well in a math class. I tried several online tutors before working with Dian and none of them even remotely compared to her. She has an amazing foundation of math and statistics and is very knowledgeable. She helped me understand how to comprehend difficult problems. She is one of the nicest tutors I have ever had and is very understanding. If you are struggling in any statistics class I definitely recommend doing lessons with Dian.

It's time for High School AP Statistics students to prepare for the AP Exam

2021 Exam Information

AP Statistics Exams will be offered on paper in early May (5/17) and late May (5/25), and as a digital exam in early June (6/10).

Both the paper and digital versions of the AP Statistics Exam will be full-length and measure the full range of skills and knowledge specified in the course and exam description (CED), giving students the opportunity to qualify for college credit and placement.

The paper exams will follow the typical multiple-choice and free-response format given in the CED. The digital exam will take the same amount of time, but will contain more multiple-choice questions and fewer free-response questions. On the digital exam, students will answer free-response questions with a keyboard, rather than by hand. The digital exam app will include any symbols students would need to type their responses.

Students taking digital exams will not be asked to draw or graph as part of their response—rather, these skills may be assessed by asking students to provide explanations about given diagrams or other stimuli. No handwritten or photographed work will be accepted.

Why I Love Tutoring and How I Know it Works

Helping students succeed and watching their confidence grow drives my passion for tutoring.

How it Started
I taught introductory-level statistics while earning a master’s degree in statistics at the University of Michigan. Breaking down tough concepts and seeing students enjoy my course was a wonderful experience that sparked my passion for tutoring students today. Even during my 16-year career as a Data Scientist at General Motors and then as a Corporate Finance VP at Morgan Stanley, I always loved helping colleagues understand statistics.

How it’s Going
After tutoring 60 students for 460 hours in 2020, my students not only improved their grades but also gained the confidence needed to tackle problems on their own. How do I know that? On my website, DS Statistics, students and parents have left me reviews detailing the lasting impact my tutoring services have had on their ability to succeed in class.
After more than a decade of real-life experience and hundreds of hours tutoring, I am comfortable using many forms of technology – TI-84, TI-NSpire, Excel and SPSS to name a few – and make it less intimidating for others as well.

No one needs to struggle with statistics. Do you or your child need extra attention in math? From AP statistics to college-level intro statistics, graduate school and business statistics as well, I’m here to help! Check out my website for rates and more information on setting up a session with me.

Top 4 Ways I Help Students Succeed

Preparation
I put in the extra time to help students succeed and it all begins once the student sends me their homework. Before we meet, I review assignments and work the problems myself.

Personalized Resources
I have designed my own teaching aids based on my students’ curriculums.

Staying Current
I have been volunteering at my children’s schools including the high school AP Statistics class. I make sure to have my students’ high school, college or graduate school statistics textbooks. I am comfortable teaching how to use the TI-84, Excel and SPSS to name a few of the technologies.

Real-World Experience
It’s one thing to teach material and it’s another to have applied it in real-world situations. I taught the intro level statistics course at the University of Michigan while earning my Masters in Statistics. I also loved applying statistics and teaching colleagues at General Motors and Morgan Stanley.

I love to tutor Statistics.

I have a masters degree in Statistics and an MBA in Finance from the University of Michigan. During that degree, I taught the introductory graduate level statistics course while getting my masters.

I used Designed Experiments and Computer Simulation to improve the manufacturing process at General Motors.

I used Statistics to implement risk management strategies at Morgan Stanley (Foreign Exchange risk, Liquidity Risk, Capital Risk).

I loved to help my colleagues with Statistics questions they had. I am currently tutoring AP Statistics and College Business Statistics. I look forward to hearing from you.
