Piano is better together! 🎹🎶

This season, students at Artistic Piano Training are teaming up to explore the world of piano duets!

Playing together gives our students a chance to experience a whole new side of music-making—listening, collaborating, keeping together, and sharing a performance with another musician.

Some students will be playing with friends they already know, while others will have the opportunity to meet and make music with someone new. It’s a wonderful way to build both musicianship and community within our studio.

We’re excited to hear what our duet teams create together! 🎵

Yesterday morning Artistic Piano Training faculty and students met at the San Francisco Botanical Garden for the 2026 Flower Piano event.

We enjoyed a fantastic program hosted by the San Francisco Pre-College program. Afterwards we hosted a studio performance in which Artistic Piano students prepared and performed solo and duet piano works for studio families and garden goers.

In addition to the student performances, our program also featured an improvised performance on Butterflies by studio director, Judith Cataldo and the debut performance of a specially prepared original work, ‘Flowers Dancing in the Garden’ by composer and associate piano instructor Alexander Lee Shaneyfelt

Afterwards we all got to explore the beautiful San Francisco botanical garden and discover the many hidden pianos hidden amidst the gardens.

We all had such a great experience and can’t wait to do it all again next year!

How do you know if your young child is ready for piano lessons?

Readiness is less about age and more about curiosity, focus, willingness to listen, and excitement to learn.

A child who shows interest in music and can engage with guided instruction is often ready to begin building strong musical foundations.

Thoughtful early instruction can make a tremendous difference in long-term musical development.

Let us meet your little one in a free interview and mini-lesson. Then we will know for sure if they are ready for their piano adventure to begin!

Artistic Piano Training is now accepting students for Fall enrollment.

My kid’s school has a piano laboratory, 8 keyboards in a room with one teacher- is that enough to learn piano?

Any experience in music is always beneficial, and group piano classes can be a great way to start with an experienced and well-organized teacher using an effective curriculum.

At Artistic Piano Training, we have the group piano class experience down to a science! 4 kids at 4 pianos - one experienced Instructor using the best materials and approaches.

Private instruction, however, allows lessons to be tailored to each student’s pace, strengths, challenges, and goals in ways group classes often cannot.

More than that, historically music training has been a mentor-based discipline, carrying forward long lineages of artistic tradition.

That personalized mentorship is one of the foundations of Artistic Piano Training. Students who start in our Group Piano Classes gradually move into our private lesson programs to benefit from our one to one mentorship.

Artistic Piano Training is now accepting students for Fall enrollment.
