San Benito CISD GEAR UP

Last week staff who service our GEAR UP students attended the ACCUPLACER & TSIA2 Conference in San Antonio! A group of 11 staff members including counselors, deans, and district leaders collaborated with educators from across nation to learn new strategies and best practices that will support student success.

We are excited to bring back valuable resources and ideas that will strengthen college, career, and military readiness opportunities for our students. 💜💛

Week 1 of TSIA Camp is in the books! 🎉

Our GEAR UP students spent the week preparing for the TSIA2 while also building new friendships and connections with their future classmates. Through team-building activities, collaboration, and academic enrichment, students strengthened both their skills and their sense of community.

We are proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see what Week 2 has in store! 📚✨

Our GEAR UP students recently attended a two-day Construction Camp with Texas A&M, where they explored careers in construction, engineering, and skilled trades through engaging, hands-on activities.

Students had the opportunity to develop teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills while learning about career pathways that help build and shape our communities.

Thank you to Texas A&M for providing our students with this valuable and inspiring experience!

Our GEAR UP students had an incredible experience last week at the LEGO & Drone Camp at STC in Weslaco.

Throughout the camp, students explored STEM concepts through hands-on activities that challenged their creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. From building and programming LEGO creations to learning how drones operate and completing exciting flight challenges, our students gained valuable exposure to careers and skills that are shaping the future.

Experiences like these help students discover new interests, build confidence, and see the many possibilities available to them beyond the classroom.

A huge thank you to STC for providing such an engaging and inspiring learning opportunity for our students! We are proud of our future innovators and leaders.

9th grade goes by FAST, and students who prepare early usually feel less overwhelmed later. Our GEAR UP TSIA Summer Camp gives students a chance to build confidence, sharpen skills, and start freshman year already moving forward.

Sometimes being proactive early can save students stress later on and help them reach opportunities sooner. We want our students walking into high school feeling READY. 💜💛
