💜💛 What are YOU GEARing UP for? 💛💜

We kicked off National GEAR UP Week with our students by asking them to declare what they’re GEARing UP for!

Whether it’s a goal they want to accomplish this school year or a dream they’re working toward in the years ahead, we want our students to start thinking about where they’re going and what it will take to get there. 🎓

Every goal starts somewhere, and we’re excited to be alongside them every step of the way!

🥞💜 Flipping into National GEAR UP Week! 💛🥞

We kicked off the celebration by serving up some pancakes for our amazing staff! 🐾

A small way to say THANK YOU for all they do each day to support, encourage, and prepare our Class of 2030 for success!

A special shoutout to our amazing GEAR UP parents who came out and helped us serve our staff this morning! 💜 We are so grateful for parents who continue to show up, get involved, and support not only their students, but our entire GEAR UP family.

It truly takes a team, and we’re thankful to have such a great one! 💜💛

San Benito Schools is proud to recognize National GEAR UP Week 2026.

GEAR UP, Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, is a national college and career initiative that provides guidance to a cohort of students over a six-year period through the GEAR UP grants.

San Benito CISD GEAR UP is currently serving students in the Class of 2030 at the Veterans Memorial Academy. From 2025 to 2030, these students will gain extensive knowledge about colleges/universities and future careers, while engaging in lifelong learning experiences.

We thank and appreciate the three coordinators who serve with San Benito CISD GEAR UP:

Alyssa R. Medrano
Xavier Perez
Diana Zuniga

Your dedication to supporting students and involving their parents and families throughout the GEAR UP journey is emphasized this week and every day. It exemplifies the GOLD STANDARD of service for our students and families.

Our GEAR UP students had the opportunity to participate in a student workshop presented by Region One ESC! 🌟

Through engaging activities and meaningful conversations, students focused on confidence, communication, trust, listening, leadership, and personal growth. Students even created their own positive reminder rocks to take with them! 🪨✨

A special thank you to Region One ESC for providing our students with an interactive experience that encouraged them to believe in themselves, build connections, and continue growing into the leaders they are becoming.

Students have access to free resources that can help strengthen their Math and ELAR skills, take practice tests, and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, it provides students more time to prepare, build confidence, and work toward becoming college ready!

Check out the flyer for information on EdSpire, IXL, and Peterson’s Test & Career Prep. If you need help accessing these resources, please contact the GEAR UP team.
