Sure Sprouts Preschool is a home based preschool with a small ratio of 6:1 to ensure a lot of individual attention. Where Learning and fun go hand in hand!
Welcome to Sure Sprouts Preschool! Please let me introduce myself; my name is Christina Mimay, I am a mother of 2, military spouse of 18 years, and a preschool teacher. I first began my career as a child care provider in 1998, when my husband Grant, joined the US Air Force and was assigned to Fairchild AFB, WA. It was here that I started my career at the Fairchild Child Development Center (CDC). D
uring my time at Fairchild I had great mentors and gained a lot of experience from some well-seasoned caregivers that helped develop my foundation as a professional childcare provider. It was there that I discovered that my best qualities: patience, love, and a passion for children and their development, were a perfect fit for this career. Being a military spouse, the inevitable happens and my husband was reassigned in 2001 to Yokota AB, Japan. While living in Japan, I accepted a position as Lead Preschool Teacher at T.O.P.S American Preschool. T.O.P.S was an English preschool that integrated Japanese students whose parents wanted them immersed in English, and American children whose parents wanted them in a learning and multicultural environment. My experience at T.O.P.S American Preschool instilled a sense of ownership and pride in my craft as preschool teacher. I had a lot of freedom to develop my own curriculum; I had the support and trust from the parents, staff, and the owner/director. This position was very fulfilling and rewarding. I taught children from the age of three, who didn't speak English at all, to the ages of 5 and 6 who were fluent in English by the time they left my class. It was a wonderful teaching and learning environment and one that would stay with me forever. After 4 wonderful years in Japan, our next assignment was to Sumter, SC in 2005. I accepted a position at the Youth Program on base. There I supervised school-aged children before and after school. This age group was a challenge because I had to earn the children's trust and respect before they wanted to “hang out” and talk to me. Once I did, I really enjoyed this age group and their inquisitive, high energy, and social personalities. From 2010-2013 my family was once again moved to Spangdahlem AB, Germany. There I worked at the CDC as a GS-5 Lead Caregiver. It was my job to oversee the children, co-workers, classroom and classroom records. I was responsible for ensuring all policies were followed and that our classroom was in compliance with Air Force standards during facility inspections and accreditations. I learned a lot about policies, regulations and guidelines of a center based program and implementing the Creative Curriculum Program during my time at Spangdahlem AB. Finally, in 2013 my family was assigned to Travis AFB. I was offered a position at a home daycare and preschool. This was my first experience working out of a home childcare environment and I found that I enjoyed the small group environment, the communication with the families, and the idea of “working from home”. This job made me realize how much I'd like to do this in my home. I left the home daycare in pursuit of starting my own home preschool; and here I am! I'm so excited to be your child's preschool teacher. I'm excited to be doing what I love in a relaxed learning environment. I'm excited to share my home and family with your family! My education: I attend Central Texas College from 2012-present. I'm pursuing my degree in Early Childhood Professions. I've completed 40 credit hours and maintained a GPA of 3.8. My Philosophy
As a child care provider, I believe children are individual learners – eager to explore and discover their world through play and social interactions. Through play and social interactions they learn about their environment, themselves and others. My role is to guide and give them new life experiences by providing a safe and stimulating environment. I will foster their emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development by providing a variety of activities, experiences, field trips, and varying my approach to teaching. I will give them an environment where they have ample time and space to create, time to discover and rediscover, time to make mistakes and learn from them. I will make observations and plan an environment around what your child can do or is capable of doing. I will support their success and their failures. The core of my teaching philosophy is to let children learn naturally. My hours are from 7am - 5:30pm. I offer a 5 day (M-F) program, 3 day (M-W-F) program, and a 2 day (T&Th.) program. The prices vary. I provide breakfast, mid morning snack, lunch, & afternoon snack. Preschool hours are from 9am -12pm, an extended care option is available from 7 am- 9am and 12pm - 5:30 pm. I do offer a 10% discount for Military, Educators,& First Responders. I follow the Creative Curriculum which makes the lesson plans very flexible and are able to follow what the children are currently interested in or what skill they are working on at the moment. My program has a good balance of structured learning and free play learning. If you want to take a tour of the preschool and see what I can offer you and your preschooler, I'd love to set up a visit!

(I thought I posted these) These were our Spring Science experiments using peeps! First I gave the preschoolers toothpicks and jelly beans and asked them to build a nest for their peep. It was fun watching them think and use their imaginations as they went to work. I then asked the children if they thought their peep would sink to the bottom or float on top of a bucket of water. We found out that they float!! I asked the preschoolers what they thought would happen if we put our peeps in the microwave. Some of their answers were: it will get flat, it will melt, it will get hot. We put them in the microwave and talked about the changes- they definitely got bigger and fluffier.

We built a leprechaun trap! We did not catch that sneaky leprechaun this year. He escaped our trap and made a big mess in the preschool. He did leave us a note and gummy snacks. We think we know what we did wrong this year- next year we are thinking glue... lots of glue!
