Never ceases to amaze!

For those wondering, the graininess in the 2026 image is a result of it being captured on the night side of the planet, utilizing a high sensitivity of ISO 51200 and a 1/4 second exposure.

This makes a direct comparison with daytime shots difficult, as the lighting conditions are fundamentally different. Furthermore, it is important to acknowledge that the Apollo missions utilized cutting-edge technology for the era, such as custom Kodak film and modified Hasselblad cameras.

A prime example is the iconic "Earthrise" photo taken by Bill Anders during the Apollo 8 mission. When operated correctly, this specialized analog equipment produced high-quality imagery that remains competitive with the standards of modern digital photography.

How amazing is science?!

The thinner tree was cut years ago and the big one has been holding and feeding it since then. They "wake up" together in the spring and "go to sleep" together in the autumn.

Inosculation is a natural phenomenon in which parts of two different trees, commonly but not exclusively the same species, grow together, self grafting and sharing nutrients.

The term emanates from latin- ōsculārī, to kiss.

Get Ready for the October 14 Solar Eclipse! 🌞

Make sure to visit a San Antonio Public Library "Get Eclipse Ready" event to snag some eclipse viewing glasses (shown in photo) and follow these safety tips:

👉 NEVER look at the sun during an eclipse without certified eclipse glasses or solar viewers. Regular sunglasses won't cut it!
👉 View the sun through eclipse glasses or a handheld solar viewer during the partial eclipse phases before and after totality.
👉 Do NOT look at the sun through a camera lens, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses or using a handheld solar viewer.
