Samuel Clemens High School Mighty Buffalo Band

Our Buffalo Band has been working HARD all season long, and all that hard work paid off in a HUGE way… 1ST PLACE!

We captured a few different points of view of the moment our band kids found out they earned the top spot and the reactions say it all! From the shock and excitement of the performers to the load crew enjoying a little bonding time while waiting for the results… only to later find out WE WON!

The hours of practice, the sweat, the early mornings, the late nights, and every single person who helped make this season possible it all came together today!

Congratulations to our incredible Buffalo Band! WAY TO GO, BUFFS!

Mighty Buffalo Band Senior Night is always a little bittersweet. We’ve loved watching these young musicians grow, both as musicians and as people, throughout their time here. We still have the rest of this school year to enjoy them, but we know we’ll be sad to see them go!
Enjoy this sweet video celebrating our seniors and the families who have supported them along the way. 💛💙

Our sincere condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with both his students and family.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that one of our beloved band directors, Russell Barbee, passed away early Sunday morning, April 19, 2026, in a tragic car accident. Mr. Barbee positively impacted thousands of students and was a treasured part of our fine arts family.

He is survived by his beautiful wife, Stacey, and their two sons, Nathan and Jackson. Please keep them close in thought as they navigate this unprecedented and very difficult time.

In lieu of meals, gift cards to the following places would be most helpful and supportive at this time:

- HEB
- Olive Garden
- BJ’s
- 54th Street
- Catalano’s in Schertz
- Hat Creek

If you prefer to donate to the family to help with arrangement expenses, you can Venmo Stacey: -Barbee-1

Mr. Barbee, thank you for instilling the love of music in so many. Your song will forever play in our hearts.
