Let me introduce Gerardo Medina, one of our students who began his journey through the Spanish as a Heritage Language dual credit pathway. Through this program, Gerardo strengthened his bilingual skills, cultural identity, and academic confidence before arriving at UTSA.

Today, Gerardo is continuing his educational journey at UTSA as a Medical Humanities major, showing how heritage language courses support students interested in health, community service, and culturally responsive careers. His story reflects how language, culture, and education intersect to prepare students for meaningful work in their communities.

Meet Seth Velasquez 💙🧡
Seth is a Biology major with a big goal: to become a bilingual pediatrician. Through Spanish as a Heritage Language courses, students like Seth strengthen their bilingual skills while deepening their connection to their cultural and linguistic identity as Latino/a students. Our courses are designed to empower bilinguals, build confidence, and support professional goals rooted in community and service.
