In 2006, Tom's Mom and Dad moved to Texas and left us in a freezing cold Illinois! We were working for at an amazing martial arts school in Collinsville Illinois, but we missed Mom and Dad. So, Mom talked us into opening our own Martial Arts School in Universal City. So, we put the house up for sale, packed up the house, kid and the animals and headed to Texas! We got here in July and October 18th 2007...14 years ago TODAY Howanic's Premier Martial Arts opened its doors for our first classes!! In 2013 for business and personal reasons, we left our franchise and Universal City Patriot Martial Arts was born! 🙂 In 2016 we swapped spots with Hero's and Fantasies and made 914 Pat Booker Road our new dojo home. We have been so blessed over the years to meet so many amazing people! Some are even still with us!! We have students that had to leave us for new duty stations but still keep in contact with us. No matter where they go or what they do, they will always be a part of our Dojo Family. Thank you to everyone who have taken this journey with us! We love Universal City and thank you to all in our community that continues to support us!! Please come by and have a cupcake with us tonight! You may have noticed that you have not seen much of master Tom. He had surgery last Thursday and was recovering. Unfortunately he contacted covid, likely when he was at the hospital. He seems to be on the tail end of it and is feeling better and better. However, we will be closing the dojo until Monday while our staff gets tested. Instructors who test negative will be teaching until master Tom returns. Sorry for the inconvenience. If we have to extend the closure we will keep you posted.
